I'm not very familiar with how Ebay and pay Pal work as i usually only sell my stuff to local members or in a forum such as Runryder. I am reminded of why i do it this way again today. I sold an Ofna 1/8 scale buggy on ebay only because it didnt seem anyone was interested in it that belonged here. The car was in perfect working condition and i started and ran the car briefly the week before i sold it on ebay. After it was sold and shipped the winning bidder receiveed the car on April 3rd. Yesterday i receive a note from Pay Pal saying they have frozen my account for the amount the car was sold for because the winning bidder wanted his money back because he couldnt get it started. Now this is 2 weeks after he received and left perfect feed back on both shipping and condition of the car. My wife contacted both ebay and paypal. Ebay said to contact pay pal and explain the situation and gave her a name and session number to give to Pay Pal. She contacted Pay Pal and they couldnt have cared less. Their statement was "the winning bidder has 45 days to return the product if he is not satisfied". So what i want to know now is what should i do next? My fear is this jerkwad ran the car for 2 weeks and smoked it and now i will refund his money just to get this over with and if i ever do see the car returned it will be junk. It ran perfect when i sent it to him and was in complete drivable condition. Charge the batteries and add fuel and your off to the races.
Any advice will be much appreciated.

I really dont have any idea on how to correct the problem. A few years ago I sold a nib saito engine the guy that bought it fried it and then wanted his money back. He admited to using rich's brew in it (which I hate that garbage fuel) paypal contacted us I dug up lots and lots of threads on forums of all the complaints people have of that fuel submitted it to paypal I also submitted to paypal the reciept of the engine when I bought it and pics of it to show it was still sealed in the box. I won the buyer lost. I would say keep trying as you can win if you can prove things. THat was my only issue I ever had with paypal and it wasnt even them it was a dork that tried to rip me off. Another reason I do not sell or buy online anymore.

edit: I do believe you can ask for the car back to inspect it be fore a refund is made. I may be wrong but I think you can.

Well, this is kinda off subject, but how do you like the fact that in order to get your funds released from Pay Pal, the winning bidder has to either leave positive feedback or PayPal needs prove the package was actually received by the winner? I don't agree with their new policy. It sucks, you have to keep harrassing the bidder for positive feedback so you can get your money. And you also have to leave positive feedback right off the back, you can't wait for the winner to leave his. And PayPal is owned by EBay so you get hit with double fees.

BTW, on your EBay auction page, was it highlighted no returns? And yes, I've had the same issue with a RC car I've sold to a guy in the past. He wanted his money back because it wouldn't start for him or run right. I called him and talked to him over the phone to find out what was actually going on with the car. I found out he was using different fuel that I was so it was a tuning issue and had modified the engine for a boost bottle that's the only thing that saved me from having to return his money. I'd call PayPal about it again and ask what happens if your item is retuirned in worse shape than when it left you.

Yes the page was higlighted No returns. Pay Pal didnt care. I contacted Ebay as soon as i got the message about his dispute and got his phone number. I caled it 5 times last night and left 2 messages. He emailed through ebay today saying not to bother trying to contact him he wont take my calls. Appearently he has no intention of trying to fix the problem. I am so furious...i knew better then this too. Ebay users are nothing but scam artists. I know not all of them are but the % just keeps going up and up and i will NEVER again sell something on there.

I actually had something similar happen with paypal except it was a game account i was selling. A couple days after he gave me the money for it he filed a claim saying someone key logged his computer and made an un-authorized payment. After months of the disputes it was going nowhere so i called the game company and proved i was the owner because i had the credit card numbers that were used on it. I got the account back and he was left with nothing :P When i buy/sell stuff always make sure the buyer/seller has 20+ positive ratings with no negative and they shouldn't cause problems like this.

So it sounds to me like i should simply sit it out and go along for the Pay Pal ride for now. I will hound pay pal every day until they make a decision but other then that i am screwed.

If it had been done the same week he recieved the car i could see giving the refund but not 2 weeks after. If you dont have a clue on running cars then just one bad lean run and the motor is toast. Hence the reason for the statement of no refunds. Which appearently is a completely useless statement btw. I know there are jerk offs that are only out to bend you over everywhere but what really erks me is pay Pal just being stupid enough to even listen to this guy.GRRRRRRRRRR

Man O Man......
This sounds very familier. I had responded on a post here "Will you send money to a newbie". My very point was that the poster was concerned about sending money to a newbie through PP.

chopper_crazy I understand that you are worried with dealing with a "new heliman" but how is he suppose to build up positive feedback if nobody will buy from him????

Good point, it's kinda sad to see that a Newbee is first thought of as a Possible Scammer or untrusted first until proven worthy on this site

Maybe I'm missing it, but we are talking about a PayPal transaction here.

There are Paypal rules and protection for buyers and sellers in bad cases under $300.00.

I have done hundreds of Paypal transactions, and let me tell you there is more risk of the seller than the buyer getting the shaft in most cases.

All the (legitimate or scammer) buyer has to do, is file a claim with paypal, say he's not satisfied with the deal and seller is charged back. Paypal seem's to protect buyers more than the seller IMHO.

Heres the Paypal Buyer Complaint link:https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/w...buyer_complaint

No one likes to loose but everyone sure wants to make sure they always win.

See my point now?

Key Work "PayPal"

The buyer has more rights than the seller and you are going to have to wait it out and hope that the buyer was just not knowledged enough to even start the car and get it back not damaged.

Good Luck!....I mean it.

Thanks for the kind words and i am doing just that now...holding my breathe and waiting for their decision. I do plan to hound Pay pal as much as possible to get them to "see the light" but i am very doubtful of that happening.
