The guys at the aussie heli forum "archeli" copied the video before the YT user "HOTCURRIE" removed his video and membership from YT. There were a lot of abusive comments by modellers against his video.

One of the Aussie locals supplied the police with the downloaded video and supplied a "possible" address after checking the phonebook for similar names. I hope the reputation of us modellers is upheld by the quick condemnation of this idiot.
One of the news broadcasters have referred to other modellers as "vigilante" type action. I just see it as pest control...

Hot Currie's actions lead me to believe he's only operating on one or two neurons. The police now have the info they need and it's only a matter of time before they confirm the vid is the real deal and he get's what he deserves.

I hope this SOB will get caught and jailed for at least 6 months.

I received an email yesterday from my club and there seem to be an idiot who approached an emergency helicopter that flew at 500 feet above the club. The pilot called the club and told them he had been approached by a highwing trainer.

This kind of morons can ruin our hobby.

I don't understand why these losers autommatically play the "fake" card. I guess it is a form of denial. Bottom line is that police have charged the cretin who flew the model. Doesn't sound fake to me..

Hopefully the attention he has received might just get through to the other morons who think it is amusing to risk people's lives. Maybe they need a brushless enema...

I still think there's a chance this will turn out to be fake. I don't believe for one second that the passengers saw the model aircraft. Faking videos is a lifestyle on youtube.

I read through this several times, where does it say that the witnesses were passengers?

No, I didn't miss it. I said there's a chance. I also don't believe everything I read on the internet. It would not be all that uncommon for the authorities to make a knee jerk reaction to what might appear to be a close call, which might later be determined to be less of a big deal or possibly fake.

They dont care about the hobby, and dont care if they destroy it for people who atually enjoy it on a regular basis. They have a few bucks to go and buy a foamy.

I read in MA that the FAA in January had for the first time in history posted NOTAM for model aviation on the FAA website. They were active during certain times of high traffic, certain large events (inaguration) and presidencial movement. Mainly the Washington and PA area.

I truly believe the FAA and other agencies would like to see an end to this hobby. Sadly idiots like this will make them fight harder for it. It doesnt matter if it is fake or real. It shows that people have the thought in their head and that will be enough reason for it.

FAA Mission statement. We're not happy until your not happy

Ok, now what is higher on the stupid meter....this or flying AirForce One over New York City at low altitude with a military escort for a "Photo Op" and not telling anybody... creating insane panic for thousands of people thinking another 9/11 is happening????
