I've only seen T-rex 500, which I own, and a Protos, which is owned by one of my buddies. Both have strong points and weak points. Your flying style might determine which is best for you. For sure you not regret any of these. The biggest positive point for the Align T-Rex 500 is parts can be purchased at almost all hobby shops, therefore parts can be found more easily. On the other hand once you find a hobby shops who stocks MSH products then you are also all set. I know this answer does not help but it's my 2 cents worth anyway. Good luck.

Not a 500 sized heli (swings 550mm blades, not 425mm ones)

All current 500 sized helis have good and bad points, go for what you like and fly the crap out of it!!.......Ron

Re
I'm with Vanheli on this one, I to just recently seen a Protos in action. It's a fast heli that's for sure and it has a good sound for an electric. And when he told me the cost I've been thinking about one for the park or school yard.

V-bar logo 400 wins hands down. It is fast and can fly big. My 400 is def. faster than Bert's 500.

I am LOVING my Compass Atom. Used to have a T500 but like the Atom more. The thing is ballistic, tough as nails and the price is right. It flies extremely true with little correction and the large boom diameter makes its visibility very very good.

I was recently in the same position as you...I chose the Protos. Unique drivetrain design and lighter.
