I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with gyro chooses I'm flying the 401 right now I have five I was thinking of making a change I fly t-rex 450 knight3d stratus, exstreme, and caliber5. I thought at first 611 but cost alot so I thought Logitech.. been pretty quiet, thought spatan... never seen one, then mini g I dont know anything about how they all work but I fly with a 14mz. I want to really advance with my Knight to same solid 3D I can do some reverse circits, inverted is good, reverse inverted I have't done because my tail is not very consistant. Please help me PLEASE.

If you search there's lots of opinion threads on exactly this topic. You listed off a bunch of good ones. They'll ALL perform well. I say just pick one.

Spartan will cost about the same as a 611 once you get the servo too. Everyone has their own opinion on the best gyro. You need for form your own opinion.

Personally I fly the spartan. I have no idea whether it's the best or not, and I don't care. It holds rock solid through anything I can throw it it, so it's good for me.

I am currently running a Spartan, 2X LogicTechs and the new Gyro from Align. They all work very well with the edge to the Spartan in every way. It is the new Gold Standard IMHO, unless/until the Futaba 520 proves otherwise. All of the latest generation Gyros are pretty awesome.

I have used the 401, the JR 770, Futaba 611 and getting ready to try the 520. The 401 obviously is on the bottom. I like the 770 but stops real hard on piro, the 611 is my current favorite. I have not tried the 520 but got great reviews so far. I have it in my shop and getting ready to put on my Vibe 50. It is super tiny. Can't wait!

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

as mentioned above you have a lot of good choices so lets break it down.
the Gy611 is simple to program compared to the spartan (i.e. less parameters to mess with) the solid-G and min G also require some decent knowledge to set right. the futaba 520 is a very unique gyro very effective and as simple to program as the GY611. bottom line is all the gyros mentioned will do exactly what you want and now just depends on how much time do you want to spend tuning with what you know or get flying as soon as possible?

I disagree. I have owned 611's before and my Spartan took LESS time to setup using the Tx stick method. I had the Spartan ready to fly in under 2 minutes. Yes, if you want to change special parameters using the USB link then of course it will take more time but out of the box it flies incredibly well. And you don't NEED the USB link to program it either, the stick method works just fine.

you bring a good point to the table. I currently own a GY611/Solid-G/401/logitech 2100/ and had my hands on the spartan. the spartan did fly well out of the box, but i to read the direction closely as i adjusted my rotation rate. the GY611 is done just by radio travel and the quick display. but either way the spartan is an awesome gyro and I won't bash it in any way.

tick77: You can adjust the spartan exactly the same way. Increasing endpoints and dual rates on the spartan will also make the tail quicker. You just have the option of playing with that via the usb link as well, but once again you don't have to use it if you don't want to.

I have been flying the Inertia 860's for the past 4 months and the things have been rock solid and are a breeze to program in about 2-3 minutes.

For around $150 it will hold it's own against any other gyro on the market currently. It also has a 50% crash replacement in the event that you need it.

go with what you know
If everyone subscribed to that logic, we wouldn't have gyros at all.

Spartan gyros are just awesome, so easy to setup and work very well indeed. I've tried the Solid G, gy611, gy401, JR 770 and some other gyron but I like Spartans the most. I had a Solid G in my 600N but I sold it and now I have Spartans in all three helis. The Solid G is a good gyro too but for some reason I just couldn't get the setup right.

I have solid-G on 600N. Flew great out of the box and stop solid. Plus you get the support of CYE. Just the best. Now there is mini-G, I would try it on next Nitro bird.
