Flying Nose Up, and Backwards.

For the last 8 packs, I have tried flipping the nose straight up, and flying backwards, directly at myself. I can flip the nose straight up, and start moving backwards, but the tail just wants to sink towards the ground after 20 feet or so.

I'm giving + collective, and low elevator, and that's it. Does anyone have the corrct stix movments concerning this movment? I'm not even sure if it is allowed to work, according to gravity, but I sure do want to make it work.

Thanks

directly at myself
Is someone holding your sign while you do this? lol

"Straight up"= not exactly vertical. You'll need some vector of force in the Y direction (tilt) to keep from dropping. The pros make it look vertical because they pull real hard and do it fast.

A bit of forward elevator as its coming towards you will keep it up. So you've pulled back elevator and + pitch to get it upright and keep full + pitch and just push the nose down a bit with forward elevator.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Are you guys saying, I need the Nose to be past the "Vertical" degree, or just before completely vertical?

I knew I would get a simulator answer in there with this too. I just closed the door on that. Im doing it without, but thanks anyways...

I try as hard as I can, I cant picture what you are talking about doing here, can you please explain further what your attitude of the heli is when you start and when you are into the move?

+1. Momentum is your friend. You also have to remember that these guys fly for a living and they have their heli in top notch condition. Keep on practicing.. you'll get it.

If ya try new moves before ya practice them on a simulator is not real smart. But hey go ahead. Not trying to be a smart alec but i bet more than 90% of heli pilots practice on a sim before going out and trying it real time

I'm snapping the nose straight up from a hover, and pulling out, flyinging backwards, while trying to maintain a complete vertical posture.

I'm working this move between 10-20 feet of altitude. My issue with it right now, is keeping the proper speed, and keeping the tail out of the ground!

Honestly, I have no idea why Im so fasinated by this manuver, nor where Im going with it, but I just think it is cool looking, that's all.

Thanks for the tip.

Now where is the fun in that?....

Brian,

Let me ask a question, with your nose straight up in the air and moving horizonal with your rotors straight up-down WHAT IS GOING TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE HELI??? In 20 feet you have lost all momentum.

In heli flight there are two things which must be "managed" lift and momentum. If you loose one or the other your heli is coming down.

Jerry

Edit; If you loose both you are coming down! But you get the picture.

I guess that's the reason my tail is wanting to target the ground. Now, if you read further, I guess I need to NOT be perfectly vertical, but yet be angled a bit, but keep it close to that vertical zone.
