Rudder servo problem
a friend of mine is going to sell me his 450xl, he spent a few hours yeaserday getting in a flying condition, it has been flown before with no problems, basically the problem seems to be the rudder servo, small stick inputs its fine, buy when you throw the stick hard over, the servo seems to stick, then slowly return? the servo has been changed, also the gyro was replace with a known working one, and a second reciever was also tried, there are all align standart type setup. you can see it whith model on the bench as well as in flight. tried the gain at all different levels, only seems to do it one way though.

can anyone shed some light on it?
thanks

If you disconnect the linkage rod from the servo, can you move the rod (moving the tail) freely in both directions?

Put the gyro in Normal/Rate mode and be amazed. Utterly amazed. Or simply bypass the gyro and plug the servo directly into channel 4 of the receiver.

Then realize any heading hold gyro, when operating in heading hold mode, does not allow the rudder servo to simply follow the rudder stick. The gyro is responsible for all servo control when in HH mode, the rudder stick simply tells the gyro which direction and how fast to turn. If the heli is sitting still and not moving, the gyro sees no reason to do anything with the servo, as the gyro is not seeing anything moving.
