Just finished up my Align MD500E....She looks good but I have a minor worry about the flybar hitting the top of the fuselage. Can anyone who has one of these models (a MD500 type fuselage)comment on this and advise if it is a problem.

Thanks!

Dave,
That sure would look good with a 5 bladed head, plus no flybar worries It's a win-win situation

Dave,

I have the same one with Trex 600ESP mechanics and the flybar will not hit in flight. I perform tight loops and rolls with no issues.

garyl,

I have a question about balance...mine is tail heavy...how do you ave yours balanced?

What I normally do is set them up so the hang level from the flybar. How does yours hang, skids level or????

info
You should not have any problem, the angle of the flybar is not enough to hit the doghouse, also check you cyclic pitch, Or my favorite option is go flybarless.

I am going to go 5 blade head at some point (no mixers will be used) but for now I will use the 2 blade / flybar system.

You have thoughts on balance?

Oh yes it does hit!! At least mine does statically. Dynamically it does not.
What I normally do is set them up so the hang level from the flybar.
That is how I have my CG setup. I would like to go 5 bladed but it would cost more than the heli did.

ON the question of a 5 blade head....

What is the rage these days for multi-blade head manufactures? Do they sell complete systems that include the head, follower, swashplate, main shaft, and blades?

I know that when I put my Hirobo 4 blade head on my fury I had to have a shaft drilled to be able to bolt the head to the shaft...I have to assume tha this will be the case when adapting any multi-blade head to a stock shaft.

What say you?

OF makes a nice head and blades. http://www.starwoodmodels.com/products/of/

I do not know if you have to make any modifications.

Here is another site that makes a nice head.

I bought one of the 3 blade setups from scaleflying. It comes with swash, swash driver, and head for a pretty good price. It fits perfectly on a trex 600e.

We don't need no stinking flybars!

I do not know what clearance you have there with the Align fuselage, but I have never had a problem with the flybar when flying my Century H-500.

Unless you are doing hard cyclic maneuvers, the flybar always tries to stay 90 degrees to the mainshaft when it is rotating.

"MD500 E"
Just as Garyl stated earlier in this Post, you will be fine as the flybar will not hit the fuselage.
