Best reg & batt for Titan ?
Hi,

Looking to replace my 1950NiMH with a reg and lipo. Have you used Fromeco and have Duralite on a couple of other heli's but Duralite stuff seems to be hard to get in the UK now ? I like the Fromeco stuff but space is tight on the 50. Any suggestions, don't want the Align 2in1 thanks.

Simon.

Have you considered Lithium Phosphate or A123 packs? I am using a 2400 2 cell pack in both of my helis. all you need is a small regulator for your tail servo if it is not 6 volt capatible.

I couldn't find a #WRL-HECHC BEC on their web site but I did find a WRL-HBECHC so I assume that this is the one you are referring to. The specs are for 3 -10 LiPo cells so will it work with only 2 cells?

I recently bought the Hurcules linear BEC #WRL-HBECLE because it is designed for use with a 2 cell LiPo and supplies 10A continuous current. Unfortunately it has a heat sink on one side and a battery status indicator light on the other so it will be a bit tricky to mount. I am still working on how to mount it on my Raptor 50.

The HBECLE is the right onr for 2S lipos and the only one that Western Robotics makes for 2S, My bad.

I'm using the Flighttech 8 amp reg with a flightpower 2100 mah 2cell lipo . Flgith tech reg is light and not too big I feel . Seems to work well , I think about 5-6 safe flights out of a charge . I have only put 4 flys on the heli so far so that's why I'm not sure . For the actual 1 hovered tank and 4 flys varing between light circuits to mild aero's it only used 900 mahs.
I'd assume for 6 full 3d flights I may be using 1500 mahs.

cheers
Jason.

Same as my setup on my Raptor 50, I have the Battery underneath the radio tray and the regulator attached to the battery. It is good for 6 aggresive flights around 8-10 minutes each.
Only draw back with this setup comapred to a Fromeco is the idle current when the system is not switched, if you are not flying for more 2 - 3 days you need to disconnect the regulator from the battery. The Fromeco Arizona is fine for 3 weeks with no flying.

Yep 2100mah 2s Flightpower pack, actually 6 flights and there is probably room for 2 more but I would not risk it.

That's cool as I wondered if it would cut it .
I see some guys running around 3000 mah and more but only have a fly or two and go home . I think it's waist to go for a battery that is way way big. You just need a battery that suits the requirements including how much you intend to fly on a charge .
I figure a little weight saving here and there can't be bad .
I think the Flight Tech reg is pretty light myself . I mounted my battery under the tray but I put my reg on top of the tray, cut the loop off the servo tray and mounted my AR 7000 vertically there .
My gov is velcro'd to the RX .

I used to have a 2400mah Sub C Nicad for my RX pack and that was struggling after 4 flights, lipo is the way to go. My install is fairly similar to yours except it is currently in pieces due to an un-shcuduled arrival with terra firma

On my 30 I have the switch between the battery and the regulator.
No idle current, that way. On the 50 I dumped the switch and use a Ultra deans connector to open and close the circuit.
