This hobby does breed a lot of spectacular egos.

The only people that I really find annoying anymore, are the ones who show up a the field, full of criticism and advice, yet never with a helicopter.

They never fly but, by their own account, know everything. The can describe all that is good and all that is lacking, in a machine, even when they have never seen one, let alone flown one.

Recently one of these individuals, after a spectacular disertation on everything from the "hot set up" and best helicopter, to simulators, accidentally let it slip and mention how he was doing in learning to hover.

After a while you learn to just let it go...

All of that being said, some learn better on large helicopters, some on smaller. Some learn quickly, some slowly, some never at all.

And this is where I get most of my comedy material. Someone who takes flying Radio Controlled Helicopters so seriously that they get a big head!

You dorks. There isn't a Nobel Prize for flying RC Helicopters. Welcome to mediocrity, we left the light on for you.

I think it was Mike Mas that said something like the best upgrade you can get is at the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket of nitro.

I just say it with 1 gallon, no one uses the 5 gallon jobbers around my parts.

As far as competition goes. My work week is challenging enough. I have to be 'right' all the time. I have to be.. ugh.. serious. I have to compete with many factors including other people, partners, processes and products.

By the time the weekend rolls around, I have spent up all my serious to the point of bankruptcy, and walked through at least a few trials by fire. I just want to hang out and shoot the breeze, help my friends get better, and maybe once in a while get better myself.

I'm the only one within 40 miles that can do reversing rolling circles. I may be... a GOD!

Or a dork with a poorly adjusted sense of yourself and how you fit in the world.

Cheers!

"Get the damn helicopter in the air and just fly!"
You hit the nail on the head with this one.

The phrase I use is: "the certificate of proficiency lies at the bottom of a 20 gallon tank of fuel. The other side of the certificate says 'Buy more fuel'"

Another thing I've noticed is that at most FunFlys I've been to.. most of these guys fly like they are competing against one another. I rarely see someone just fire it up and sport fly. It gives me that feeling that you need mad skills to even play.

i will always respect the guy who flies with the most skill, no matter what he flies, or even if it is an out dated raptor v1. the guy who has a 3000 $ 90 does not impress me.

for a lot of us that is playing. sport flying does not do the trick anymore. it always has to be lower and harder to get the same feeling.

I particularly liked the "Got'm all" statement on the gyros.lol..

This guy is the guy that can tell you from experience whats good and whats not. Now the fact that he hasn't gotten around to selling or trading is another story, but this has nothing to do with Jones's

This has everything to do with speaking from first hand experience. So when a new guy comes to the field and asks a question or wants to make a comparison he can speak from first hand knowledge.

Crap.I got sucked in.lmao....

Between the rain and no radio,I'm just soooooooooo freakin' bored.

I really am just playin' 'round.
Don't take any of this stuff seriously.
It's as much a part of the hobby as flying.

Although,I do tend to like the flying part way better

Back to the OP....that is seriously a bunch of nice stuff.
Congrats on a super nice collection

"The bling will not make you fly better"

Not sure I agree. I added $500 worth of CNC to mine, and immediately I went out & beat Lukas Riva in a one-on-one smackdown.

So if your flying's not progressing, take a look at getting some CNC.
