One thing I noticed about this great hobby of ours, is the pissing match. So many people get into the helicopter rc game and never advance pass hover because they are so damn scared to fly because they have spent their life saving trying to out do the guy at the next station. I know many people here and see them giving advice but yet they are still no further than a year ago. "The bling will not make you fly better - Get the damn helicopter in the air and just fly!" "Stick time give you all the bling you need." So if your not flying it than its just a big expensive paperweight!! Seeya at the flying field!!!

LOL, I wish I would have thought about that before I spent the time painting my heli. Half a gallon of fuel later and everything I painted was broken in a crash. I think the stock look is going to be fine on my next go 'round. At least for a while anyway.

The Pissing Match!
Pissing Matches are an unavoidable process of human nature -- always have been, always will be. Like RC, the key to success lies mostly in stick time.

I agree with pissing matches being human nature, and stick time is the best teacher. theres some one on here who's tag line sticks with me, "experience is found at the bottom of every gallon" I'm not sure which person this is, but I've used this line several times!

Well, Im going to switch gears here and say, 450 class helicopters will give the pilot loads more stick time, as this helicopter size can be flown in any open field/soccer field, construction site, abanded GM Factory parking lot, ect.

They are easy to fix, cheap for the most part, and when you upgrade to a bigger helicopter, and the pilot 9 times out of 10 has gotton so prefiecient on helicopters and flying, that the bigger heli is flow with more presicion.

The 450 is my favorite flying machine from all my heli's. Cheap to fly, cheap to fix and can perform virtually anything 3D related. You never get bored of a 450 IMO.

Not to be argumentative but I never really progressed much until I ditched the 450's and went larger. I started with no rc experience and next to no help. The 450's were way too twitchy and hard to see in the air. As soon as I purchased my first 50 it was an entirely new world (for the better). I guess to each his own, as always.

I was Spektrum when Spektrum wasn't cool

The Pissing Match!!
Bell 430 - That is what I was looking for: "Experience is found at the bottom of every gallon." This statement puts it all into its perspective. I was feeling some kinda way until I saw the replies. I been so tired of people measuring their D _ _ Ks around me when all I want is time in the air, great conversation with good heli friends and a very calm day, temperature on or about 70. "Sounds like heaven."

The 450 just takes alot of time to learn. I was at 50 or so flights, and ready to throw the towel in to, but at 100 flights, I stated to see my helicopter moving around, and now, I don't even focus on the bird(in the same location of the heli).

I just fly it, and try to keep it right side up, and go on...

If and when I move to a 50, Iwill probly amaze even myself, as I believe I have a pretty good grip on the 450.

Having no help was my biggest issue. I had to figure out how to use the radio, set it up,,,,man, what a nightmare it was.

Enjoy The Ride!
Flying Brian

If your enjoying flying the 450's you will love the 50 even the 90 size helis. The big helicopters are so stable and fun to watch and just bigger is better in this case. Just remember you just need to setup the helicopter for the way you fly and you will love it. I'm sure you will agree this is so addictive and there is nothing like the rush. "Good Luck"

like the sentiment above about the 450, i'm finding the 250 to be an even better tool than my 450 ever was. i'm finding i have absolutely zero pucker factor with the 250. i fly it almost like the sim. knowing that it's tough to have even a $50 crash, the only real fear is the repair time.

add to the fact that the packs are $10 a piece, and plentiful i can easily keep 5-6 packs at the ready... and i can step out my front door with any 5 spare minutes of time and get a flight. my weekly stick time since getting the 250 has jumped exponentially.

i think i've personally sold 4-5 of these just by stepping out my front door and showing someone how it flies (especially after all the dogging it gets on the forums about the 'bad tail'

if it ain't broke, break it.

I'm quite certain that when I visit orlando in 2 weeks, I'll be visiting some stores and maybe coming home with a 250 myself.

stop thinking it's a contest
It's not

It's like cars, you have:

Show cars: All show and no go. Look nice, sound cool but aren't fast
Race cars: All go and no show. Performance all the way
Stock cars: Like the ones you buy at a dealership. Half looks and some have performance.

Everyone that likes cars likes to talk about cars. Some like different kinds. Just make sure your car is capable and reliable. The rest is a bonus.

IT's what I do.

most people go for the race car, but cant drive

it is not what you "drive" it is how you drive it.

a v1 raptor can do 3d, you just need to know how to control it and make it do what you want. buying a 600$ 50 is pissing in the wind, if you cant fully contol it.

Bigger is easier but, for me, I'm empressed by the size and made it hard at first to feel comfortable.

If I'd look around me all the time I think I'd stop flying because it seems to me that most advance faster than me. But I'm thinking I'm only 42 and have lots of years infront of me to fly and try things as I feel confortable.
