That's got to be the most suspect modern plane that I've ever seen!

I've seen better flying from first-day rookies at RC airfields.

thats retarded....

you'd think an engineer would watch that, and "bing", lightbulb head, come up with the idea to add real landing gear.

Good grief! Makes me remember the day I ground-looped a full-scale clipped wing Super Cub! That was a lesson in directional control.

And those landings also remind me my glider time, but at least I managed to keep those in a straight line. And they only had a little solo main wheel and the tiniest of wheels on the tail.

cant have real landing gear its a glider for extreme long distance, weight savings my dad has seen a lot of them in his career i think he even refueled them in midair but thats not confirmed. besides was probably a training facility seeing they were meant to fly at night!!!

Now you know the reason for the name "Dragon Lady". It's one or the other, depending on which side of about 50,000 feet you are.

There was a great article about it in "Flying" magazine a few months back. Lane Wallace got to go fly one - now that's a rare treat!

The few times I've seen a U-2 land, they have used Mustang 5.0 convertables to catch the wing tips. They would go screaming down the runway along side the aircraft and there would be a guy in the back seat and he would catch the wing so that video wouldn't happen. Once it was stopped, then they would plug in the wing tip wheels. The wheels and struts just pop into a hole in the wing. When a U-2 takes off, the wing tip wheels/struts fall off because the aircraft is basically a glider once it's in the air.

They did! They came up with a totally different airplane!

Can you say RQ-4??

To save weight they just ditched the pilot...

This hobby is like Kryptonite to chicks!
