Today was an absolutely gorgeous day. It was in the mid 40s with a 2 to 4 mph wind and not a cloud in the sky. Of corse I was out flying. After flying my first lipo pack I decided it was time to bring the heli in for a fresh lipo pack. I didn'r realize how fast I was comming in until the heli hit the ground and the tail blade kicked up some dirt. While swapping out the lipo pack I took a closer look at my tail blades. Just to be sure they weren't trashed. Well, both tail blades had just a little bit of damage on the tips. The blades are carbon fiber. I've heard CF blades are a little more delicate than the plastic and wood blades. The blades are not splitting appart or anything like that. They're just pretty scuffed up on the tips. I've gone ahead and ordered up two more sets of tail blades just to be safe. I remember seeing an article in RC Heli on main and tail blades. I remember reading something about minor scuffs could be flown, but blade separation should be replaced. Kind of makes me want to go back to those plastic neon KBDD blades. They could take a little bit more abuse. Should I even try flying again tomorrow (supposed to be identical to today's weather, but warmer) or should I ground my heli until the replacement blades arrive (probably a couple of days)? The weatherman says the weather should hold up through next week.....that's a lot of nice flying weather and I've been cooped up all winter.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.

I have flown with nicked cf blades and not had a big problem, but it may vibrate just a bit. Dont feel bad about the blades though, I trashed 2 sets in 2 days earlier this week! Guess thats what I get for flying where I was, but my choices are limited!

I've flown scraped blades before and they could possibly work fine. If the tip is cracked open, but closes when I pinch it, I've used a little thin CA to hold it close. I had a pair like this last 2 gallons and then I crashed for another reason. If the tips are equally gone and the foam core is exposed, I'd use it. Early NHP blade tips were exposed. If it is split open, I'd replace them.
You did the right thing and ordered replacements because you will need to replace them. I wouldn't fly for a extended time, such as a whole gallon on these scraped blades. Look then over before each flight and don't hover near anyone or yourself. I keep it 25-30 ft away and the T/R disc pointed away from anyone. I've used woodies that struck and flew them. Some are okay and after a flight some frayed like a bamboo rake.
Use them on condition. If you have any doubt, don't use them.
