Hi, my name is Jim, I am from Chicago, and I just bought my 1st heli.

I am a E- plane guy and I fly everything from giant Sig Rascal to Warbirds to 3d Ships to 150mph pusher jets, but I mostly fly my H9 Sopwith Camel Tow Plane in the summer when my buddies need our help to reach the thermals - I have RF G3.5 and when I use it, (rarely) I fly helis because the planes are too boring for me. I just downloaded the t-rex 600 and she is a smooth flyer

Well, I got sick of just flying the sim and decided to get one, this one in fact.

T-Rex 600E with RotorWorks Carbon Frame
Bind N Fly - Ready to go.
Carbon boom
Align HP Carbon main and tail rotor blades
Align Metal Head
Align RCE-B3X External BEC
Align RCM-BL600L - 1620 KV motor
Futaba 401 Gyro w/Futaba S9254 gyro
Futaba 3151 servos for cyclic
R146iP-72 receiver
Eagle Tree E-Logger with temperature sensors and USB cables and software
Eagle Tree LCD Display expander
Lots of Spare Parts

Looks like I got a pretty decent deal, (what do you guys think?)

Anyways, I need some help with a couple of things ...

1) - I have a extra Optic 6 I can use to fly the heli, or a new Evo 9
(which would be better, can someone post some settings to start out with?)

2) - Should I make some training gear to start or forget it?

3) - I have 4s and 5s lipos of large mah, but nothing I can make 6s to fly this bird on Wed when I get her.
(does anyone have a spare new Zippy-H 6s1p5000 pack that they could sell me to get me started, (I am paypal ready right now). I am willing to pay a little more for your shipping and long wait time)

Thanks, and I hope to have alot of fun on this site with my new heli and you guys - Jim

I've know about United Hobby/Hobby City/Hobby King for years -
They of course are out of stock on everything good, as usual.
Thanks for the reply but I was hoping someone could part with one right away so I can fly on Wednesday

Any comments on my radio situation or traning gear/dowl rods?

If you dont have some one to help you fly it that is really good the training gear is not a bad idea. I really sucks to have a new heli that you just finished and then to stuff it and have to rebuild it. But it is your call and your heli. Have fun and let us know how you do and how you like it.

what go's up must come down

Try to find a patient heli guy to help you. The Trex600e is a great heli to learn on. Training gear does help at least psychologically until you get some confidence especially on your own. I'd get at least 3 5000mah packs. 1 pack is not enough, because you only get 4 minutes a pack and it takes sometime to recharge and stay on top of packs to fly. You'll likely want to fly 3-6 flights a session. But whatever you can do is good. Don't buy any bling. The stock heli flys great. Get some spare batteries, when you can, followed by blades, main shaft, spindles, flybars, main gear and tail boom. And check in here regularly with any questions and yes stupid ones and ignore the flamers.

Thanks ch-47c for the advice, it's appreciated.

I got 4 DeWalt 36v packs that I am going to use to make some 7s2p4600 packs for sport flying and would like someone to sell me a new lipo for some mild 3D. So far I have had 3 different guys trying to unload their 30+ cycle TP's on me, but no one willing to sell me a good battery.

Does anyone on this site still fly on 72mhz because I cannot find anyone to give me any advice on which of the 2 radios to use, Optic 6 or Evo 9. thanks Jim

"Try the Electric General Discussion board".

Thanks, but why "general" discussion?

I'm looking "specifically" for a 600E pilot that uses one of these radios, or can recommend one over the other. thanks Jim

If you find one that uses it in the Trex600e, great. But there may be few on this thread, I don't know. The General board may have more Hitec Optic 6 or Evo 9 users, but on another heli. It is another avenue to find what you are looking for. If you put it in the Main Discussion, even more people will see it for exposure. If RR feels it should be elsewhere, then they will move it anyway.

I haven't heard that name in a long time. Haven't seen one in public in a long time either.
