Equip:

Raptor 50
OS 50 Hyper
Multi Gov / Multi Gov Pro
Throttle servos Fut 3151 and HiTec (something fast)
Futaba 7c 2.4 ghz Tx and R617FS Rx

This is long and complicated and I'm still trouble-shooting but maybe someone has insight that will save a step or two in the process.

2 weeks ago, I'm flying said Raptor and throttle goes weird. Surging, reving up and down. I try flip throttle hold (TH) to mini auto to the ground and it doesn't work. I flip to normal mode and throttle stays open and I land. Am unable to throttle down so I let it sit and run until it's out of fuel. I figgered the throttle servo had gone out.

Back at the shop, I replace the servo with the HiTec servo and I also replace the Multi Gov (MG) with a MG Pro. Did not mess with the Tx, or the MG sensor.

Yesterday I make the first flight and it works fine at first but then I start getting some engine surging - from about 1/4 throttle to 3/4 throttle. And TH wouldn't work in Idle Up 1 (IP1). TH worked fine in Normal.

I thought it was a Rx problem. Last night I swapped the Rx.

Today, same problem. Things are fine in Normal and throttle is erratic in Idle Up 1. (I have MG disabled in Normal.)

So I disable the MG in Idle 1 and keep it active in Idle 2. Switch through all modes and find that everything works in Normal and Idle 1 but throttle is acting weird and TH won't work at all as long as the MG is active. I check the sensor. It is "seeing" the magnet.

I inspected all the wires for chafing.

Summary:

Throttle is crazy as long as governor is active.
Throttle hold won't work when governor is active.
Condition same with 2 different receivers, 2 different governor units, and 2 different servos.
Everything works when gov is disabled.
No Tx settings have been changed.

Someone told me that if the sensor is too close or too far from the magnet that weird things will happen. It has always been pretty close (about 1mm) but tonight I moved it out a bit. If that doesn't work I'll try another MG.

Anybody got any ideas??

Maybe your engine is running too rich causing the gov to hunt. I am not familiar with the atg but this is common among other governors.

Turned out to be the sensor. I talked to MG last night for a while as I was swapping the sensor out.

Fly a tank today and it worked fine.

Still very odd (and Bob didn't think it was possible) but the misbehaving sensor prevented throttle hold from working when the gov was engaged. True.
