You know there is a good chance that you are smarter then me, but then you are working in a pizza joint and I am not. No big problem, at your age it's the jobs available to you. Given the increasing wage scale as years go by you'll make more money on paper at least as years go by, but that has nothing to do with intelligence. However, given the fact that there is so much new information out there being taught you probably are smarter then me. If every experience is an opportunity to learn why are you letting your closed mind stop you from learning?
You may be able to do calculus in your head, but math is only one aspect of life...talk to me in 30 years about how smart you think you are.

Actually I'm not worked up about it and your saying your just having a laugh is b/s and your only saying that to make light of it.
There are a good number of cops who are just out and out assholes and there is a good number who are just great people.
The idiot cop in Denver is a perfect example of a stupidity and a badge go hand in hand. He should have been fired.
If you have gotten on in your life how about closing the thread?

I'd love to close the thread on account that people continue to attack my character and integrity but I'd rather let it live on so that others read the OP and learn they too have the right to refuse a vehicle search.

Mutt, you are pathetic
Sorry I do not feel sorry for you most cops have to deal with a lot of aholes and from your post you acted like one to give them more just cause.
By saying that they couldn't search the car? Where did you get the impression he was acting like an asshole?
Why didnt you want them to search your car?
Did you miss the part about a 14 hour day and being late at night?
must of had some dope in it or maybe a concealed weapon? see where this is going? thats just cause your giving suspiscions to them.
LOL, driving 53 in a 55 with a burnt out lisence plate light is driving suspicous? These assholes were fishing, thats all.
If you would of said go for it they may of just peeked in and said see you later fix your light.
They were fishing for something, they had no reasonable cause to search otherwise they wouldn't have asked to search. Without reasonable cause they can't do jack sh1t without permission.
If you give the cop ANY indication that your pissed at him, have rights, or are lying
So, uh, let me get this straight, Sun Nuclear. You believe that if you lead the officer to believe that you are an educated citizen and understand your rights that that will offend the officer and cause him to fork with you more?

Looks like Mutt created an alter ego RR personality to bash a bit more...

I got a DWB (I will let you figure it out ) while driving through a small town here in Florida (Ocala) and they said I had a tag light out too (did I mention there were 3 police cars and FIVE officers for the tag light out!). I got out of the car and looked at the tag and all THREE lights were working perfectly as well as the tail lights and the brake lights. So then of course they told me that they were going to get the "drug dog" out and if he alerted them there were drugs in the car, they would search it. I agreed (stupidly) because I was 20 years old, naive, and alone. The dog walked around my car like he was walking through the park. He never sniffed my car or made any sudden changes, he just walked looking at the cop the whole time.
Of course the cop said the dog "alerted" him that there were drugs in the car and would it be ok if they searched my car (That is where I screwed up because he tricked me into giving them permission by ASKING if they could search my car after the BS drug dog act).
The completely tossed my car!! Took the rear seats out and emptied my glove box, cd cases taken apart (100 cds), the whole nine yards! Then after they fond nothing, they let me go, without a ticket and without helping me put my car back together.
After that I got smart, learned my rights, and since then I have never been treated like that by any police officer.
You have to make them realize that we are people too and I can make it WAY harder for them too.............Ron

jphilli,

I had to look at your location because a guy at the field just told this exact same story yesterday but he doesn't fly helis. But it happened to him a few years ago. He said the cop told him something like "You'll probably never be pulled over for this again in your life but your license plate light is out. To be honest with you, we've just had a lot of problems in this area lately." It wasn't that he did anything wrong, they just were looking for any excuse to pull people over and check them out. I've also known people who have allowed the cops to search their car and you don't want to volunteer for that. They create a unholy mess and you get no brownie points for letting them do it.

Two Thumbs Up.

Those that say if you don't let them search you are hiding something have never had their car tossed. Plain and simple.

I dont think badly of cops, in fact I kind of like several of our local police officers, there good guys and gals to get to know. Maybe its just where I live, I'm next to a major road and they often park in front of my house and do paperwork. On hot days I even offer them up a cold bottle of water, I appreciate what they do and I tell them so.

If one of them pulled me over and wanted to search my car, I'd let them, theres nothing but dog hair and nitro drippings in my car anyway. I'd consider it kind of exciting, heck, if they wanted to cuff me, that would be alright too, I could tell my buddies a good story. I'd have'em take a pic with my cell phone with me in handcuffs.

I did get pulled over for speeding last year, the cop ended up buying the car I was driving that happened to be for sale.

I guess because I spent my adult life in the military, I'm used to having my privacy invaded and could care less.

heh.. I got pulled over a lot when I was teenager and after that too for stupid reasons!

I went on mountain bike ride I got back late, it was dark and my headlights failed to work, so that was good reason to get pulled over. Give me ticket or check my lights and let me go but no. They want to make sure I wasn't drinking.
They check my heart rate, yeah, I just got off the bike and getting stop by police, my rate is going to be higher then normal. Later I calm down and it become normal, they decided to check my eyes. They could not figure it out, one cop was checking my eyes, then check his partner and partner was checking his then mine. Then backup arrived and they both check the backup's eyes and backup check mine then he check the other two cops.

I was sitting there while they were talking, I fix the light and ask them to if I can go now, but no, they called somebody with breathalyzer tester, waited for 20min and he called in said he got somebody else on the way, finally they let me ride back home. They said you should be sober by now, WTF I wasn't even drinking!
