We have made it around the sun once again and flying season has started up for us here in N America. we went through a nitro shortage and am curious once again what you all pay for fuel around the country and abroad too. I am also interested in what the LHS are charging over and above the norm. Who knows ,,they may read this forum and lower the price abit!!
Happy Flying

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

I grabbed 5 cases of CY 30% at the Toledo show for $19 a gallon. The local HobbyTown USA store is still selling it for $32.99 a gallon.

I just bought 5 cases of youngblood 30% of 19 a gallon at the Toledo show. My LHS has 20% Cool Power for $26.55 plus tax. That will probably hold me over until IRCHA.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

I just got 3 cases of Magnum 30% from my local fuel rep for $18.50 a gallon.

Hobby town is charging $30+ a gallon for 30% here and they can lick my sweatty sack before I buy another drop from them.

we had 60 cases of Wildcat in my truck leaving the Toledo show
About 50 of that was CY30 for the heli guys here in the Tidewater area. Could not pass up $19 a gallon.
We figured out you can put 58 cases in the bed of a Ram 3500 2 layers deep. Then just do not get stopped by law enforcement

Do you have any idea of what it costs to have a store and keep it open? So you can walk in and buy stuff.

I was talking with a LHS owner yesterday, smallish shop, been there for YEARS. His overhead is $16,000 PER MONTH. That is for lease, utilites, payroll (and he only has a couple of part time people), etc. Does NOT include the cost of the inventory.

Thats a lot of stuff sold. And a recent MHA purchase of Cool Power was at about $25 per gallon, so let's see, on fuel alone, he would have to sell about 2000 gallons of fuel a month to just pay the overhead.

Actually it would be more like 2000 gallons because you are assuming that all of that $25 is actually profit.

I hate our local hobby town. Yes, they have a very high overhead but is that our fault? Our LHT suffers even more because most of us guys ONLY buy from there if we need something right away. And we can't buy much heli stuff. The store is still stocked with old Raptor v1 parts. For example I still look for and laugh my butt off everytime I see these carbon fiber fin set for a Raptor 30v1. The price... $94! He rarely marks anything on sale and when he does that price is usually about the point you can buy it anywhere else any day of the week.

Of course you want to support the LHS but I'm not going to pay more for it just to support them.

You are right, I ws figuring the profit was $8 per gallon, but missed a 0 when typing.

And yes, some LHS are better off left to die. But do support the ones that try and are good, even if it costs a bit more. Or they will not be there when you need them.

Wow Most of you are getting it a lot cheaper than up here in upstate NY. My last was for a gallon of Byrons Rotor Rage at 35.00. This weekend though they were selling it at right about 140.00 a case with the coupon we could print off the internet. Better than late last year at almost 50.00m a gallon.
