I see alot of familiar names! Its hard to believe the how the time has gone by since my last post. Hope everyone is doing well. My 5yr old says we got to get back on the helis so thought I would drop in and say hello! Hope to do some flyin real soon. I have been working Pheonix pretty regular so maybe I can still push it around a little.

Whats new?

I still fly the HBK2. Don't really want to spend more money on bigger heli.. HBK2 is perfect for area that I can fly in.. just walk out and fly, especially with building across from me burnt down to the ground.

Probably get a cheapo 450 in a few monthes once I get some more side jobs.

Hey Sgt,

Its definitely slowed down a bit in the O'Esky forum. Lots regulars still hang out even though their Esky is no longer thier primary heli.

I still have my HKB2 and fly it regularly in the backard. Its still my primary heli for learning new stuff. I have Trex 500 for the field and just joined the local club. So I'll be flying the Trex more as the summer flying season gets into full swing. Its still quite convenient to get a flight or two in the backyard in between on the other domestic duties. So I don't see the HBK2 collecting dust anytime soon.

As for Doug, he flew is HBK2 into a barrel back in December and has been quiet ever since. Except for the occasional pot stirring.

My King II is my primary (only) heli. Will likely be that way for a while; I want to go bigger, but the budget disagrees.

It's all good, it has a full CNC head (like what cnchelicopter.com sells, but got the pieces-parts at my LHS), lotsa goodies, etc. Flies much better (not to mention that my skills are starting to improve, too... )

Larger Heli everything just cost more, I don't care what anybody said. batteries, blades, parts, servo's, gyros, gears. I'm on budget with family and plus I already know places to get HBK2 part for extremely cheap!

There are a tons of people on Heliguy and RcGroups.

Hey Gregor, good to hear from you.

I've still got two Hurri 550s and several HBK2s BBs and two flyers. I've noticed that one of the horizontal lines is dead in my DX7 I've charged all my batteries and checked a heli out just waiting for a break with the weather.

Zaw, I really think that dollar for dollar the HBK2 is hard to beat for affordable flying. Replacement parts are much cheaper than a year ago. As you mentioned, going bigger means spending more. I've crashed my plastic 550 twice and I don't like it.

Does anyone have a line on some less expensive CF blades for a KingII? I can only see them for $28 to 34...

Lets see, since I last posted I have:

been working on an old Jeep that I bought of Craig's list. Including rebuilding the rearend w new ring/pinion and all bearings. Replaced rear main motor seal, etc, etc.
Turned an old Magnavox console into a stand alone stereo tube amplifier in single ended triode setup.
Built a pavilion type building 20x40 for cookouts and family get togethers.
Put together a pair of horn stereo speakers w/ active crossovers.
retrofited a backhoe off a trencher to work on my Ford farm tractor
All that around working for a living too!

Now Im gonna fly my helis some more until I bust em all up and get discouraged.

My 5yr old is all about T-ball. You know what I'm thinkin that ball field is good for after practice. Wonder how long til I can tag a light pole.

My buddy is getting a HBK2 from a guy who tried to fly last year but it wasn't his thing.I outfitted the heli for him and set it up,but he has 0 patience,I told him from the beginning this is not a hobby for those into instant gratification. But my other friend who flies planes is going to give it a shot.he already is getting sim time on helis.so he's on the right track

so,I will be flying a HBK2 again soon, maybe this weekend, also going to go over mine and see what it needs.now that the 500 and 50 are flying,I need a new project for nights and rainy days.my jet ranger fuse is just the ticket

hey guys, i've been gone for awhile, getting back into though, building up my king on sunday, it's been boxed for some time now...
have moved around on the job front since i last posted...was working general aviation for couple of years as some of you already know, moved into military contracts, 1st with DS2 and now with L3 Vertex in Kuwait...made a short trip to Dubai, things have changed alot since i was last there and Iraq early this year, now that Obama has put up a time frame to get out, the shift is to Afghanistan, Kuwait is where i'll be 'til later this year before coming back stateside, gotta go where the $$$ is for now...harsh winds out here not the best conditions for taking the king outdoors, i have lots of indoor room to get her up though, brushing up on skills with clearview rc, using the king as my platform...wish me luck getting back into the air, jaghobbies and helidirect are a click away for new parts, though i have enough to build another heli if need be

converting over to the "Dark Side"...Trex 450 clone...HBK2 still #1
