okay yesterday I was setting up my hawk ccpm with the alum head and with 11deg in pitch and 7deg in cyclic a link popped off so it is to much for it which is the max I can gget on this head

To maximize the pitch range through a 360 degree rotation of the head without "bumping" there are a number of things you can do.

The easiest is to move the balls on the bell mixer to the inner most holes on each side...that will give you the most throw with the keast amount of swashplate movement.

Then adjust the collective to +11/-11 and then adjust the cyclic throws for as much as you can get wjile rotorting the head through 360 degrees without any bumping/binding anywhere.

That should give you some pretty fast responses...if you are running a governor or have the proper cyclic to throttle mixing and an engine that can keep pace.

Also, be sure that your bell mixer arms are installed such that they are facing the inside...toward the feathering spindle.

im not sure if it is the same on the hawk as it is the raven...im assuming it is. but also make sure to have the beveled ball links on the 'A' Arm.

that was an expensive lesson for me.

I gave up on the bell mixer that comes with the CNC head as there was no way to get rid of binding, So I took the advice given here on using the stock bell mixer.
So far no problems I can get 12* collective 8* cyclic with slight binding at the extremes

However on the Hawk pro 10* collective is pretty much it's max and 8* cyclic is more then sufficient.

If you want a faster response there are a number of things you can do, Lighter paddles, shorter ball links on the flybar bell mixer(just flip the bell mixer around), longer ball links on the swash - collective. if your using a DX7 instead of using + expo try using - expo at least it will feel faster.

Unless you like stalling the blades during extreme maneuvers, limit the cyclic to 6 degrees .... any more than 6 degrees of cyclic will stall the blades. As far as collective pitch, this depends on the engine that you are using. Using a 37 will accomodate =/- 12 degrees of pitch without any issues. A lesser engine will have issues with this high pitch range!

agreed, im running 6 degree's of cyclic on my Raven 50, and about 12 on the collective. this definatly gives the YS50 a work out

more then 6 degree's on cyclic is great for whipping the heli around in a real fast roll of flip. but then you have to manage the collective carefully.

flybar weights are another way to fine tune your cyclic response as well.

i personally dont bother with them anymore, but it is something to consider.
