Compass Model has stopped the production of Knight Factory.
Parts are still available.
What does that mean?
It means you can no longer get the "Knight Factory Heli kit"....
But if you have one you can still get parts.....

Compass is still in business and running strong, and rest assured they are posing themselves for an even stronger future...

Whatthehelli;

I'm not familiar with the Knight Factory Kit.. I'm assuming that you know Chris at RCHeliworkz and he's ok with this?

yes I know Chris at RcHeliWorkz.com, we are good friends. His shop is only a block from my restaurant, so we see each other often.

As far as Chris being ok with it, I have not spoken to him about it. While I cannot speak for him I can see no real issues at hand. He may chime in on his own though...

Compass has further expanded the knight family with the addition of the Knight Factory variant. This “factory edition” is essentially a fully upgraded knight 3D to fulfill the appetite the bling hungry crowd. It comes with full metal rotor head where the rotor grips and mixers arms have been upgraded to metal parts and a full metal tail case with metal grips. These nice blue blings are not newly developed products, but they were only sold as upgrades.

hope this helps....

No big loss actually. The Knight 'Factory Edition' did not sell that well and was heavier than the K3D with no tangible benefits.

ditto on that

I have a knight factory. It requires(not optional) all the metal frame supports so the CF does not break. It also flexes a bit more than the G10 (why I do not know but it does) The other metal bling parts are heavier also with no real flight feel advantage

So no weight saved really in the overall so it was really bling in the end.

Stick with the stock 3D ! This is no loss in my opinion

there are other metal parts too like metalframe separaters instead of plastic and metal tail boom clamps etc etc. SO all this pretty metal stuff looks good but I only really like to use it where strength and accuracy is paramount...other than that it adds weight. The knight 3D seems to be a good balance between metal and plastic. I like the G10 frames.

beavis1. Interesting about the carbon flex. Coments seem to follow the same thoughts as others and you have the factory version. Good info.

Carbon Knight 3D frames are 1.6mm thick as opposed to the 2mm used for the G-10 parts. I find the carbon parts I have to be considerably more rigid than the G-10 parts.

I've directly compared the weights of the CF frames compared to the G-10 frames. The CF frame set is three ounces lighter than a G-10 frame set. Not even remotely worth it for the cost disparity. Sure is purdy though !

I have a blinged out 3D that does hangar queen duty, has about every possible metal and CF piece available except the metal boom clamps. I didn't want to use those on a CF boom. Weighs right at 7 pounds ready to fly. About 4 ounces less than a comparable G-10 bird.

OK.. I didn't understand that the "Factory" was an earlier model that is now discontinued. I just bought a K3D so I was getting a little nervous. Thanks.

Yes my carbon has many many did I say many hours of service and for some reason the rigidity has gone away over time so I should have added that to my statement. This fillows what I know about the chassis of the RC cars we race all winter. The carbon plate material although stiff barnd new flexes more and more over time. In a car chassi if you flex a new plate and a year old one the difference is amazing.

Thats a nice weight 7 LB

My two stockers are at 7.4 each

I am a little fat at 7.6 on the factory but it flies real nice and feels hella light !

Knight Factory
I sent a PM to coolrunner when I read that on Compass' website about a month ago. Here's his reply:
Hello Regie,
no it means only that the model named Knight Factory has canceled. All the other helis shown on our page are still in production. The Factory was some kind of special series that's all.

Regards
tom

Compass Model Factory Clarification
Hmm I am wondering about the little wind of panic which goes over our Compass family and friends (it shows up that our products have created a lot of interests). Just to be clear, only the model named "Knight Factory" is discontinued.
The Compass Model Factory itself continues the business as usual and even the team is still creative and new ideas rise in the technical minds, but first we have to finalize the 700E and more is under development as we got some smart ideas for new products so stay tuned.
Regards tom
