I'm sure someone is using zeal tape on their 611 sensor and i'm looking for info on mounting lcations . It seems to me that the 611 sensor with 2 pieces of footaba tape makes the sensor real close to the canopy when installed over the cyclic servos .

Did you use 1 piece of zeal tape or 2 pieces and the metal plate for the sensor and where did you mount it ?

I am using 1 futaba pad, steel plate and 1 piece of 3m grey 2 side, gyro sensor

Holds & stops great, locked in feel, no blow outs on huge tail slides or slow piro tail slides.

It is close to canopy but doesn't hit. IMO it works better than 2 pieces that futaba suggest.

Cheers, MM

Zeal tape is no good for mounting your gyro. It's too squishy and allows the gyro to sway (pivot) side to side. I found this out myself.

I recommend against using it.
Save it for RX mounting or something.

zeal
Zeal works great if you put a piece of velcro strap up and over the top of the gyro, been doing for a while and love it, my 2cents.

You CANNOT make a blanket statement with respect to ANY gyro tape in ANY model, because the vibration profile varies so much from model to model, even amongst the same brand of model and being so tied to how the engine is running.

I can tell you for an unequivocal fact that the Zeal tape is the ONLY thing that removed the drift I was having with a 611, and it worked equally as well with my GY520 that was picking up a bit of vibration off the engine.

If you do a post on the main discussion or the radio forum, I can assure you that you'll find a TON of guys that use the Zeal gel to great effect.

If anyone has any of this so-called "crap" lying around, I'll be more than happy to take it off your hands.

Whats this worth to ya?

I've been using it to mount some electronics (Spektrum satellite rx, governor) But I won't be using it for my gyros. I don't like it.

I strongly agree with this I have noticed a difference since I removed this from my 600N. I could literally twisted the gyro almost 1/4". I currently use 3 pcs of 3M double sided foam tape (Gray in color). I have not seen any problems so far.

The problem I saw with Zeal tape was, in fast piro, the Zeal would allow the gyro sensor to pivot (maybe a degree or so).

What I saw when coming out of the piro, (my theory) the gyro still hasn't caught up with the airframe. So when I'd stop the piro, I'd get a major backlash effect as the gyro sensor re-centered itself.

I took the Zeal tape off and that backlash in the tail was gone.
I'm just done using it for my tail, is all.

Zeal tape worked miricles for my 6100T gyro. If you run it with a strap (Like your suppose to...period) it doesnt allow the gyro to twist but also lets the thick jell to do its job, absorbing the vibes before they reach the gyro.

Lookd likr i'll just have to give it a test run .

Ben as far as asking in another area of the board I chose this thread because of the tail issues with the 600N .

It's bought so I may as well try it now .

I have a Spartan mounted with ONLY a piece of Zeal on a TRex 450 with a strap loosely. It seems to work great.

On my 600N, I used the supplied Spartan mounting stuff... Foam tape, metal plate, thin tape, Gyro.

I too thought the Zeal may be a bit "wiggly" on the Nitro.
