Depth perception is everything. That doesn't look like a near miss at all.

I'm sure that person inside that plane would consider it near miss... Why would he keep on flying if he saw that plane flew pass them like that. I would have s*** my pants... And they were just laughing about it... Crazy.

Okay -- maybe closer than one or the other might've liked, but still pretty safe.

I've seen closer (safe) incursions between ultralight aircraft several times.

by judging the distance of that heli, I would guess it's about two plane length away from it. That's a near miss...

but still pretty safe
lol...you are kidding right?
not much safe in the way of a unplanned full scale fly by within 100 (?) feet or so of you and or a rc heli. Wonder what it would have been like if he took the heli on the prop? anyone want to speculate?

Was it a controlled, fullsized airport or an open, uncontrolled RC airfield?

Nevermind -- here's a quote from the 'tube link:
"He made a non authorized low pass. Not that smart to do on a RC-Flying field."
Full-sized pilot F'd up -- his bad. Either way, still not too terribly close a miss.

I agree with Timp, Its not fake. The heli disappears because the camera moves off him and onto the plank then back to the heli.

by any chance, does anyone know the limits an RC club should be from an airport, and what the altitude restrictions are?

I'm going with, why? Why would anyone make a fake video of that? Next it was illegal, the pilot came within 500 feet of a person, big no-no here, it looked like they knew each other, and was not terribly unsafe, but if the Fun police get a hold of it, some one will loose their certificate for a short while!

AMA says within 4 miles of and airport you should fly below 400 feet, I think. If the airport is run by the city, they will likely have there own ruling on the matter. But that is here in the USA. I work on the airport here, and flew for a year off in a deserted corner. I was under the radar, pardon the pun, the Airport manager got wind and put a stop to it.

you guys need to settle down. Blademaster and marcw were just joking around.

just take a look around the comments posted on Youtube, nearly every video has a comment from some idiot claiming the video to be fake.

5. I will not fly my model aircraft higher than approximately 400 feet above ground level, when within three (3) miles of an airport without notifying the airport operator. I will yield the right-of-way and avoid flying in the proximity of full-scale aircraft, utilizing a spotter when appropriate.
It's not clear if the plane was taking off or making a low pass. In any case, it seems like the pilot could have seen the RC flyer so he was a little reckless also.
