i have a dx7 and jr 290 tail servo in my trex 250.37mm tail blades. gain is at %20 in the gear channel. but why do i have a bounce when stopping both directions? if i turn gain down any more it gets sloppy. any higher i get a wag. i have got everything setup i think correctly. im using the 3mm tape that came with it and without the metal plate. should i use the plate and other tape? im confused but seems like its going to be a sweet gyro. very responsive.

What is your setting for the 5 Functions and how much tape are you using
What is your Servo Selection ?

What mode F3C or 3D

Reponse Setting ?

Did you look up your servo speed, specification and change it?

srevo selection is on the 1500us seting. figured it would be the closest. the other settings you are asking are at factory settings. i set the travel, us setting and direction and test flown it. i know i need some tweeking but dont know what some of the settings are for. the instructions are not very clear

Make sure that your ball on your servo arm is at MAX 5mm from center. Also don't for get to set it up in Normal mode.

I'm using the 2mm tape without the metal plate, 9257 servo with ball 5mm from center, new metal pitch arm, blades cut down to 35mm.

1520us
3D mode
Fast response
Gain is around 30% on DX7 gear channel

My tail is flawless. Vicegrip hold, perfect stops, consistant piros in both directions. Couldn't be happier with it.

With my servo (different servo and different Gyro) I mounted it so the screws go in from the fin side not the tail blade side. That way the servo is to the left a bit more, and then I was able to put the ball link ontop of the servo horn and not underneath (which would cause binding when it got real close).

I don't know if yours is underneath, but this can help you. You just put the servo above the mount not below it so to speak.

I also epoxied the tail rod support.

I cut down the servo horn because that was hitting the gyro too.

For me, the pushrod is now going parallel to the boom in every angle.

Even with it like this, the rod can flex a tiny bit, so I might add another support at some point.

Have you done any of this?

update:

i redrilled the servo arm to 5mm. made not any difference on gain or my bounce. probaly go back to where i had it. it felt better where i had it. the bounce must be in the little slop of the tail or flex in the rod? but at least im getting it narrowed down
