Come on man, you've got to be kidding me. This place has always been very restrictive when it comes to people advertising their products without paying. JB has been blatantly breaking that rule for months now. It's amazing that he wasn't locked out months ago.

I would call it defending of late, not so much advertising. But, that is just my view. There have been a number of naysayers coming on here badgering all of us and John too, and he can't respond???

Go look at what others have done to get banned, other people have gotten banned for FAR less. It's amazing that JB has lasted this long. Call it whatever you want, it's free advertising, something that MR is VERY specific about.

I just think that it is very unfortunate that because of a few idiots, and their idiotic jabbing and jousting over their favorite machine, that this results. It was nice to have him here to ask questions of.

Seriously? You really blame him getting the boot on other people's actions? Really? 1/4 of his posts are a copy/paste from the marketing pages of his website. Make no mistake, he was advertising his products, he knew that he was advertising his products, and he knew what would result from doing it. He didn't get booted because of the actions of others, he knew the rules, he broke the rules, and knew what would happen. The surprising thing is how long it took MR to do it.

You can tell because all of his posts have been pinked and his username is grey with a slash through it.

I don't like it either, he is a personal friend of mine, but even so, he's a big boy and can take responsibility for his actions.

Proper thing, he's full of it as everyone with half a brain knows. He lies and makes up sagas to suite his own marketing needs. I seem to remember when TT was not paying for advertising this same buffoon took full advantage of the situation. He's an ass, no other way to put it, glad to see he has a taste of his own medicine. And you are correct I have little respect to the likes of him. Nick Crego put it a little less harsh but then again Beech is not my friend.

Concho, as much as I think the banning is sometimes a little heavy handed, can you imagine what it costs just for bandwidth to run this site? I'm not here to defend Mark Ryder. I dont even know him but I am very happy this site exists. I spend a TON of time on here. John said it was $1000 a month to advertise here for him. If he can make money on his kits at $199, imagine what he was making when they were $300+. It would seem it took less than selling 7 or 8 kits a month to pay for his advertising here.

Hey Concho, I should add, I am trying a Frenzy. hehe. I ordered one yesterday so will be able to compare to the Pantera for a knock around inexpensive 50. I still have one Pantera. I killed one and sold off all the others. I dont know about others experience and the claims of durability but when my Pantera went in last Fall, it broke everything and it wasnt even a hard hit.

He's not full of it, he's marketing. If people read what he posts and see it as anything different than him talking up the strong points of his product while pointing out the weaknesses of his competition, then they are the ones who are clueless. It's no different than watching a commercial, whatever they are selling is the greatest thing ever and what ever the competition is selling is trash.

TT didn't advertise on here, they were the biggest fish in the pond, so they felt they didn't need to. What's wrong with the competition taking that opportunity to market to those people visiting the TT forum? It's simply business. You may not have liked the ads (I didn't either, they were insulting and pointless), but if TT had advertised on their own forum, then the opportunity wouldn't have been there.

The fact is, the Pantera is a heli with a lot of nice features, some of which are better than the competition. I think the marketing pages on the Audacity site are way overblown, but that it is the purpose of marketing. Here's how I see his heli. It's another plastic fantastic (I like plastic in helis), but it has a lot of the features of a flat plate carbon/G10 machine. It has a solid drivetrain, strong frames with removable bearing blocks, a strong head that doesn't need any upgrades, and a bunch of nice little things like the servo stabilizers, nice tail servo mounting, and cheap parts.

It's certainly had it's share of problems, and I had them all since I was one of the original testers and had one of the first 5 Panteras in existence. When it came out I flew it hard for a few months and told JB what I thought, that combined with other people's experiences showed that while it was a fundamentally strong design, it needed changes to be truly trouble free. The swash was junk, seesaw arms would break if you looked at them the wrong way, body mounts were easy to break (and required frame/radio tray replacement to fix), tail grips were too weak, and the tail was heavy enough that it required a huge pack (or lead) to balance. Why he never publicized that he changed the majority of those things is beyond me, but since then it's gotten strong see saw arms, new tail grips, and a tail case that is about an oz lighter. All very real improvements. The swash is still junk, and the body mounts still need something done about them, but other than that, it's a solid heli, and neither of those are show stoppers.

For me the bottom line is that it's a good product, and it's now being sold at a ridiculously low price. There are other helis that are also inexpensive, and I'm sure they are good as well. Actually, with 1 notable exception, I don't think you can buy a bad helicopter anymore. They are all good with their own strengths and weaknesses, and each person should just pick the one they like the best because they all do the job. Personally I'm a Hirobo guy, I love my Evo, and was planning on getting the SDX, but the current deal was too much for me, and after having a long discussion with John about what I don't like about his heli and going through the changes that have been made, I bought 2 Panteras. For $300 I get a new heli along with a full crash kit. Can't beat that deal. I'll put a different swash on it (maybe a Hirobo one of the measurements work out), and do something with the body mounts, and fly the hell out of it without caring about whether I put it in or not.

Bottom line for me is JB is a nice guy, but he makes a lot of posts that he KNOWS are against the rules. He's got a good product that he is proud of and gets carried away with his promotion of it, and that pisses a lot of people off. Maybe he'll learn something from this, or maybe he won't. I've told him a bunch of times that I think he'd do better if he didn't post on here beyond answering technical questions and completely leaving the marketing alone. A lot of people don't like having it crammed down their throats (myself included), and that causes a backlash against what is fundamentally a good product put out by a nice guy who works very hard to make a living in a difficult business in difficult times.

i understand your point of view Marty.

Chinese slave was a bit hard as a Canadian citizen i forgot to ad (Canada Canada the Chinese slave)

in a bizz point of view mark must have to explain to his other advertiser wy he let jb advertise his product for free
and everyone else have to paid their advertising fee

the two man must have talk about that problem together

i dont want to judge you Marty because you have a frenzy
every heli that i owned 9 in total come from china or Taiwan

. i got a pantera because it was developed by an American(and its a damm good bird)
i know the parts are made in corea (that wy we are paying $300 for two heli) but the after market money stay in usa .

the united state of America did more trade with Canada last year
then any country in the world
as a Canadian i try to buy something with the label(made in Canada made in usa)its my small share to stimulate the economy unfortunately i cant not find a lot of those labels
maby i over react last night because john is such a nice guy
but like they said there is no place for a nice guy in bizz

Wow, I'm not sure I was asking to open myself up to being judged about this "Buy America" thing but since I am, here's a quick take.

I'm in Cincinnati, home of Cincinnati Milicron, makers of probably at one time the most popular plastic injection molding equipment in the world. When we got into injection molding in 1981, Milicron quoted us a machine that they "thought" would run our largest mold. Price was $106,000, training was extra and warranty was available. Toshiba, represented by folks based only 10 miles away from us quoted $68,000. They guaranteed it would run our parts or they would remove the machine at their expense. The price included 5 days of training for 3 employees and 100% warranty for 1 year parts and labor and parts for 3 years.

We have a fleet of forklifts. We have owned a number of American brands. Clark, Yale and Crown mostly. They always required a fair amount of maintenance. We had one Crown the factory trained repair people couldn't even keep running. We tried a Toyota out of desperation. The fleet has all been replaced with Toyotas and one Nissan now and maintenance is dramatically less.

The point is, given my experiences in life, I no longer care where something is made. I need the best product at the best price and we dont get that in the U.S. very often. None of this applies to why I decided to try a Frenzy. I didnt even consider where it was being made or by whom. At the end of the day, the retail profits from it's sale will be here in the states no less than if I bought something from John Beech so I dont get the point of this whole conversation. I was actually only commenting on John not paying for the advertising or marketing he has been doing here and that I was going to give a Frenzy a try to compare it with the Pantera.

There's no tone in this post and I'm not upset at anyone so please dont anyone read anything into my post.
