No airfield needed, and the rest is history

Perfect. Another obvious one I missed. I can't imagine, every time I needed a fix, having to pack everything and head to the field- a 30 min drive one-way.

Very nice to be able to go up the street to the school and get in a tank or two

Because I can't build anything else successfully?

Yes, its sad but true.

I started with planks 25 years ago (actually my father was into it, I only flew them). After a crash I was never able to glue them right and whenever I tried to build one, it would always come out wierd. Remember, no ARF back then. I gave up on them when I realised I suck at wood and glue work.

I moved to boats. Shortly after, I found out that you would need to glue stuff too... I confirmed my natural disbility with glue when my 22 cell catamaran sank only after 2 minutes because I didn't seal the halves properly.

I moved to cars. Wow... everything was build with screws, gears and metal. Awesome.... didn't had anybody to race with so it became boring after about 2 weeks.

Now what is left that builds like a RC car but flies and gives you the possibility of working in all three dimensions?....

I like em' because according to the plankers, they should not fly, and I enjoy proving them wrong.....

How can I soar with the Eagles when I work with turkeys??

i used to race dirt bikes but got tired of walking in to work with a limp and not being able to keep up with the 16 yr olds that had no fear. i needed my mechanical fix and the adrenaline and helis give me both. just a little more addicting than my previous hobbies.

fly it like you stole it

working in all three dimensions

Tony, I think you nailed it.

Meaning, I suppose there's a theoretical limit to what these things can do; but I sure ain't found it.
