There is no reason why that gyro (520) shouldnt work well. At the end of the day its there to sense yaw, its not interested in what size heli its installed on. The main thing is that it can support good quality digital servos...which I am sure it will.

Quality takes........time!

That's what I thought too, just thought I would ask because the gasser's vibrate a lot more than nitro's (so I have heard).

I also saw the Alum. Tail Pitch Plate hanging on the wall at the LHS and figured I might as well grab it... http://www.centuryheli.com/products...0&prtnm=CN2282S

Was a impulse buy

You might have to add a shim inside then. Mine are very tight with no binding and yes, I do have a shim under the bold head as well as against the frame.
A shim or a washer?

I purchased some micro washers from Century and that's what I ended up using. What ever works, I guess.

So you have:

9mm spacer > bell > bolt... as per manual.

Changes you made were:

thin washer > 9mm spacer > thin washer > bell > thin washer > bolt ?

I just tried various configs and none are working. I have some tephlon washer's, very thin, I'll try those.

Thanks

I have stepped spacer, bearing, spacer (inside the bell crank), bearing, micro washer, trim cap (added for looks), bolt. first couple of pics in my gallery show the trim caps.

I didn't have any binding, but if the stock spacer isn't enough, then washers/shims might have to be added so there isn't too much pre-load on the bearings when the bolt is tightened.

Hope that helps.

Well, I have tried everything. Something is out of whack there and I can not get it to stop binding. Gonna have to get a new set maybe.

Manol, in the other thread had the same problem. He ordered another set and it worked fine.

are you sure you have the spacer in between the 2 bearings inside the bell crank? If I remember correctly, in my kit, the bearings were installed in the bell crank, but the spacers were not installed. I found them in another bag and added them between the bearings.

I don't want to take them apart, but if I remember correctly, the spacers are chromed looking. Check this link, the spacers are at the bottom of the picture. Do you have all the parts seen here?

Well, that might explain it then. The manual says nothing about those spacers and my bell cranks were in a bag along with the balls and bearings. If those were required and in some other bag, there was no way for me to know this.

I'll look and see if they are in another bag somewhere.

This is getting old man.

You're right. Nothing is mentioned about the spacers. It could be they are missing from your kit.

Century has been using the same manual for years with no updates to it.

that really hurts,

looked up the century website and saw the new factory. have traveled around in asia quite a bit on business and know how factories are ran over there. Most do not have the quality control that they should have and the people doing the work are not paid much and work allot (thats why they are over there and sell over here).

Sad to see that critical parts are missing and worse yet that the manual did not have them listed. Originally (up until this and a few prior posts) i was looking at the Bergen line. Have really (up until now) been ready to buy the Predator, with this it is somewhat concerning. There is no way to know what should be there that you guys have not caught...

Will wait on my purchase until Thelane has sorted this out and I can make a decent build manual out of it. I guess the other thing is that I cant count on building it out of the box, will always wonder what I dont know about, will have to add in a few weeks to figure out what is missing and acquire the missing parts. This is not as easy as it would seem as I will most likely have to get them on-line. I always keep a ton of spare fasteners, bearings, grease, oil, washers, etc... but missing proprietary critical parts?

Thelane, you have the temper of a clergyman, hope this is your last obstacle to the build and thanks for this post, looks like we will need it.

PS: Would be great if when someone received the new box they took a bunch of photos and did a parts inventory of each bag. If i do purchase one of these I will see if I can contribute that way. Seems like that would be the least that Century could do.

That was one of my complains about the kit, there is NO parts inventory list when you get the kit. No way to inventory the kit and verify everything is there. The build manual sucks. The build itself is not bad, just the manual.

But, the machine is nice. Once built it's a good flying machine. If I were to buy new right now it'd be a toss up between the Pred and the Spectra.

A video of my Predator from last year. Hope this helps get the excitement back into the build - gassers are very cool.
I'll post a vid soon with a full length pipe hanging off my pred.

I really appreciate the support from you people here. it's very good to know you all are behind me.

As for Century, I am getting outstanding support from them, well, Hobby Alley, the local rep (rotorsport) and the distributor in BC (Phil) are being nothing but supportive.

I was hoping none of the issues would stop my build, but at this point, I can't tighten anything on the frame up until I find/recieve parts so the build is at a stand-still for now. Tired of driving around to the LHS's so I am just going to wait until they send me replacements now.

I am compiling a list of items and page numbers/steps where I had trouble. I hope this all gets thru to Century, at the factory or somewhere important so that they can fix the issues and nobody else has to do this.

At the end of it all, when the sale is made and you open the box like it's Christmas, it comes down to "do I have any support" and the answer is a "yes" for sure. You have the forums here, the distributor, the local reps, your local hobby shop, etc.

We'll get'er done eventually here. It's not as bad as it may sound if you sit back and summarize it all:

- One thrust bearing
- Two thrust bearing shims
- 4 M3x20 head bolts
- Two bell cranks (or just the spacers that are supposed to come with them)
- ESS (debatable)
it does stop the build thou
