Well, my Predator SE arrived the other day and so far, the build has been excellent. I am very happy at this point because tonight I removed the spark plug, mounted the engine in a vise and installed the fan. Initially, my first attempt, I got a runout of .002".

I removed the bolt, put a toothbrush thru the port to hold the piston, used blue loctite and tightened it down a bit. I dialed it again and got .002", tightened it up for good and dialed it again. The final runout is .001"

Hopefully I am as lucky with the clutch.

Alright, question here
With the fuel tank fittings (fuel stopper), are we trying to plug the large hole in the tank because the tank doubles as a nitro tank? We're only using the silver fittings?

The manual, page 12, step 25 is saying to insert the short brass tubing in to the hole thats plugged by the rubber wall. Why are we putting this tubbing in there then?

Are any holes in the stopper being used?

No brass tubes trough stopper. follow gas directions
use the stopper as access and a stopper . Make sure the stopper is for gas not nitro I just had this problem were the stopper was labeled gas but was nitro caused all kinds of problems as it disintegrated

So basically, I am only using this hole for access to mount the fittings and then sealing this hole with the stopper?

How do I know the stopper is for gas, it's marked somewhere?

Yes to above
If your not sure about the stopper pour some gas in a jar and soak the stopper for a while if its for nitro it will start to swell and disintegrate. after my ordeal I will now always soak mine first because it was labeled gas but wasn't.

I must say that the century tank setup is CRAP!!! its very crude. The actual tank material is ok but what a junk way to do things. The Hawk sport setup I had wasnt any better. I rearranged it so it suited me.

I just dont like the stopper being halfway up the tank wall for one thing, and you have to be quite careful lining up the stopper as per the book.

How did the clutch dial in?

Quality takes........time!

Thank you. My stopper is brown,

The Fan dialed in to .001" after I tightened it up completely and the clutch dialed in to .003". I am happy with that, especially the fan.

Be careful with the tubes for the tank. I set it up exactly per the instructions, measuring to the mm. That resulted in the fuel being squirted across the vent line when fueling thus coming out of the vent line, but I am fueling through the return line. That may not be the best idea but I didn't want to have another component inline between the tank and the carb.

Installing the fittings is a real pain. I ended up using a wire fished through the middle of the tube fitting and pulled back through the stopper - used it to guide the nut on the back side. I also put a bit of RTV on the threads to help seal it. It's worked for me, not convinced it's the best setup but it does work.

Clunk Line
Did you use the Tygon fuel line in the tank or the black line that came with the tank?

I'm guessing the Tygon is too stiff for use in the tank?

Interesting... mine doesn't say Tygon in the tank anywhere. I bought MED today (1/8", as stated in the front of the manual. Think it would be ok in the tank, will it soften up in there?

I used tygon lines everywhere, even inside the tank. The gasoline will soften them up pretty quick so it works just fine inside the tank.

I forgot to mention that - test fit all the nuts on those fittings, they didn't all match for me.

OK, changing the line inside for Tygon.

Well, I have one nut for the fittings that has no threads. I just got back from the local hardware store and could not find a replacement anywhere. I bought a nylon nut. I'll put a tiny bit of CA inside the nut and the fitting can cut some new threads in it. I'll use it outside the tank.

What do ya think?
