Always use the individual manufacturer's brand of crystal, whether tx or rx.

In your case though, the thing is that Futaba tx's and rx's use what's called 'negative shift' and JR tx's and rx's use what's called 'positive shift'.

Unless you have a Futaba tx that can select positive shift, or a JR rx that can select negative shift, you're out of luck, and you'll be buying a new rx.

As long as they are both FM crystals they will work fine. Usually Futaba uses dual conversion FM crystals and they are not compatible with regular FM crystals, like what JR uses.

Take Care,

So Patrick, you'd put a non Futaba crystal into a Futaba transmitter and then fly your birds around? You don't see that causing a problem which would at least require recalibration of the output stage??

Well in Australia we do it all the time, its legal there to change crystals and modules without having to send it in. So to answer your question, yes I do it all the time and they work perfectly. As long as they are matching crystals from the same manufacture it is fine.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Most folks in the States would find that as un-kosher as Kosher Tequila.

Hitec and Futaba use the same servo slots on the receiver. JR uses a different slot set up. So a JR receiver if you plug in the servos according to what it says on the receiver they won't function right. You need to plug in the servos like it was a Futaba receiver, don't read what it says on the JR receiver.

Futaba/ Hitec Receiver:
Ch 1 Aileron
Ch 2 Elevator
Ch 3 Throttle
Ch 4 Rudder
Ch 5 Gear
Ch 6 Spare/Pitch
Ch 7 spare/governor

JR Receiver:
Ch 1 Throttle
Ch 2 Aileron
Ch 3 Elevator
Ch 4 Rudder
Ch 5 Gear
Ch 6 AUX 1/Pitch
Ch 7 AUX 2

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick
