i need big help for a big heli!!! i've just aquired a raptor 90se and it came with an os max sx 91 engine. the engine has a 60m carb with the kline upgrade (catseye thing done to it too) i've tried to set this carb up a few different ways and all i can get is 1600 rpm headspeed. i've put an atg gov on it and set it for 2000 rpm and still cannot get any more than 1600 rpm. the main gear is a 91 tooth and the pinion is an 11 tooth. i didn't know if this has anything to do with my problem. my questions are as follows; what headspeed do 90's call for for 3-d flight? does anyone know about these kline upgrades? if not, can anyone give me a link or phone number to call to find out? has anyone else had this problem? can anyone PLEASE HELP ME...this is very frustrating!!!!PLEASE HELP HELP HELP!!! thank you

Headspeed should be good around 1800-1950 for a 90. Where are your carb needles set at on all 3 of them? Are you getting motor rpm but no h.s. or are you not even getting the motor to rev?

Did you setup the ATG by the lights or with a G-view?

Is the motor hard to start? How much time is on it? With having the Kline mod on it, it does have the pressure fitting on the backplate with a 1 way valve in the line back to the tank doesn't it?

^^I agree sounds like the engine insnt tuned correctly or is shot.

Have you looked in the exhaust port for scaring of the piston?

big help
i've set the hight speed needle at 2 turns out start with and the mid at 1 turn out and the low at factory setting(straight in line) and tried 1-1/2 turns out on the high and 1/2 turn out on the mid and factory on the low. it's spewing fuel like it's running really rich...so i've tried a little bit at a time leaning it (watching my temp of course) trying to get my head speed up and no matter what i do the head speed never changes. the weird thing is even with the gov on it...nothing changes like it's doing nothing (i've even tried changing the gov just to make sure it's working) like i'm just flying off of my curves. i don't think the engine is getting any more rev. i don't know...just can't get any more performance. i'm very disappointed withthis engine. does anyone make a 91 engine that's not pump..like the 50's and 30's engines?

I am not familiar with the ATG but i would assume that you have to set the gear ratio in the ATg somehow.Perhaps it is not set correctly.

+If your engine is puking fuel it is still too rich.

He has the ratio set in the ATG correctly. I had one of the same SX motors that he is having issues with and i never got mine to run as it should. I replaced it with a SZ klined mod motor and it has been rockin great for me. Hopefully he can get it fixed soon so he can enjoy it and quit cussing it.

+1 on mchammer's comment.

Still too rich. Get it leaned out and it will probably take off like a rocket.

I meant to do that!!!

Does the throttle go to wide open?

Did you train the Governor with regards to throttle positions?

Last effort, bypass the gov, make sure you get WOT, then hover it as you go thru the various flight modes with different throttle curves.

Either the gov has the wrong gear ratio programmed in it and is preventing what it things as an overspeed, or the motor is slobber donkey fat.

How long does a tank of fuel last you? If your burning half a tank in 2 or 3 minutes, your WAY too rich..

Disable the governor when you're tuning the engine, it's easier. When the mixture is OK, enable the governor and set the head speed. If still can't get more than 1600rmp, then you've done the governor setup incorrectly.

Two turns out on your high needle settings sound rich. Also, what fuel and muffler are you using?
