Hey Gents

Just got back into flying Heli again about 1 1/2 months ago, I bought me a Brand New Trex 500 esp. She is flying great. Purchase a second Trex 500 esp, also brand new about one week ago.

Put it all together and this is my problem:

My tail is wiggling a bit from right to left/ left to right WIGGLE, not violently but enough where I just don't like it. It wiggles every 5 seconds or so. My other Trex is awesome.

So I compared the Torque Tube bearing placement to my other trex and it was off a bit, so I fixed that problem, STILL WIGGLES.

I replaced the Torque Tube and Bearing and Bearing Holder, STILL WIGGLES

I replace the new Radix tail blades with new Align tail blades STILL WIGGLES.

I checked every screw on the tail and STILL WIGGLES

Before I go and replace the boom I figured I ask around for some advise. Also the tail servo seems to be working great on Hold and off Hold, I have the GY401.

SO tell me the truth DOC, I can take it.

Thanks

Did you try adjusting the gain?
Is the tail linkage sliding smoothly?

Gain adjusted
Yes my good friend who is one awesome 3D flyer adjusted the gain and STILL WIGGLES. Now on IDLE 2 at top head Speed the tail was performing pretty good with out hardly no wiggle.

My good friend left yesterday for 3 weeks out of town, or he would have fixed the problem by now, I am not a patient man to wait for him, want to fix it myself, LOL.

Check for bad or notched tail grip bearings, loose tail blades, binding or sticky tail pitch slider, binding linkages, tight links etc.

Maybe even too much play somewhere in the tail.

New Question
First of all I have completely change out my whole tail assembly except the forward gear box inside the frame and it still WIggles the same, so I happen to hear the following.

My 401 Gyro is placed on my Trex 500 with the two side sticky tape, plus I have a velcro strap going around it.

Is it true, if you tighten the strap around the gyro to much, it can cause the gyro to make your tail wiggle?

Please advise

I have always just used the double sided tape without useing any velcro and never had an issue in years, im pretty sure the gyro has always remained stuck down even after nasty crashes.

Thinking about it, I had to pull my gyro of the other day to change front tail bearings and it took a fair bit of physical force to rip it off.

I agree
My other Trex 500 has no strap, but have you ever heard or know if by putting a strap around it and tight, can that affect how the gyro works, like making the tail wiggle?

thanks

In honesty Im not sure, at a guess i would say it wouldent effect it unless it was extremely tight.

That being said Ive heard of people haveing issues with vibration so maybe try it without the velcro and see how it goes.

I know a few people had issues with the 600e kits wiggleing and the fix was to buy metal tail grips (i was one), but I dont think its the same with the 500. Maybe someone may know.

As soon as I brought it up on these forums I quikly realised it was a common prob and simply replaced my tail grips to fix it.

But unless its a known prob also with the 500 I would look elsewhere.

Something else Ive found, specialy on 450 - 500 size helis.
Im not saying one way is right or wrong.. but.
If you set the 401 up in rate mode with zero pitch when the servos centered it works 99% of the time(I usually do if im feeling lazy), but useing the other method of getting it to hover in rate can often iron out a problem that exists.

(rather than go through the odeal of haveing to adjust the tail linkages while hovering in rate, I usually just add about 3-5 degrees on the bench for good measure.

EDIT( Im not sure if this will help your prob much, usualy this has worked for me when ive had drifting issues.
