Hello. I am setting up the throttle linkage on my Raptor 30 with OS37 and DX7. In my nitro rc trucks, we set up the ATV in the Tx so that when the carb was closed, a set screw kept the carb open a tiny bit for idle. However, it seems that the OS37 does not have this stop screw to set idle.

I am confused becuase the Raptor manual says to set my low end ATV so that the carb is fully closed, but wouldn't that kill the engine when in the air when I pull back on the throttle? Shouldn't I set the ATV so that it is slightly open to idle? Seems like a misprint to me.

Thanks.

You advance the throttle trim to get the engine to idle.

+1 to airdodger. Likwise when you're ready, set the throttle hold idle to give a RELIABLE (possibly slightly higher) idle which doesn't engage the clutch.

You take and close down the Throttle TRIM all the way and set the Throttle ATV to 100+ and 100- and then usually on OS motors you use the 2nd hole out on the carb arm and on the servo it's like the 2nd or 3 hole out on the arm.
I set mine so they both point 90%, up on carb arm, and down on servo arm so it forms 90% angles when at HALF stick. IF the hole is close you can go up on ATV but with most Governors and Revlimiters you are supposed to have at least 100% top and bottom on the Throttle channel for them to work right.
THEN when that is set up now bump up the Throttle trim to around the half way mark on the face of the radio and start your motor and set where needed. Also look on the OS carb and there is usually 3 hash marks there the one in the middle is 50% carb opening the others are 40 and 60% when at half stick you will be right in there somewhere.

In the DX7 make sure to activate the Throttle trim return so when you drop it to kill the engine you only have to tap it upwards once and it will return perfectly to where it originally was when the engine was idling before you shut it down. I like this feature myself so you don't have to guess on the trim position after motor is off it goes right back there automatically with one touch before I shut the radio off after my flight.
