This little motor is killing me.

I cant get it to idle As soon as I pull the glow wand it quits. I went down 3 1/2 turns in 1/4 turn increments (low speed needle). Still no love.

On the plus side it fires up like a dream. I must have started it 30 times just now at the field. It fires every time. But as soon as I remove the glow wand it just stops.

I had to give up tweaking due to RX battery getting lower that I like.

I just had the engine apart and cleaned it all out. I have some new glow plugs, (did not bring them to the field) could it be a bad plug?

The fuel is CYB 30% from last summer. stored in the garage sealed.

My setting are

Low speed 1.5 turns out at zero throttle.

High speed 2.0 turns out.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the time and advice.

You have new plugs, but didn't put one in. You should have.

Do so, then report back.

If the fuel was tightly capped, it's fine.

Yeah I left them at the house.

I'll swap out the plug and fire her up in the drive way and let you know how it goes.

Still waiting for my TX to charged back up.

This motor is evil, Now it wont run at all.

I think I'm gonna try to swap it out for the OS 32 I got.

I reset both needle settings and tried to fire it, no love.

It's almost like it was not getting heat to the plug. I know it was because I just redid the remote glow set up. It works every time.

Any final thoughts before I chuck this thing in the parts bin?

Thanks again.

It started before, but wouldn't continue to run when you removed the battery.

With a new plug, it won't start at all, yet you say you fixed the remote adapter. Go fix the remote adapter. You either don't have the ground connection anymore, or your wire to the plug is broken.

New plug. Good wire. Needles open, it will run.

The plug is hot. I can blow through the fuel line, so I know it's getting fuel.

If I do manage to get it to fire, a few quick questions.

Engine dieing when the wand is removed sounds like a too rich setting of the low speed needle.

Correct?

1.5 low speed and 2.5 on the high should be a good starting point for the needles, Right?

As always thanks a bunch.

Ground continuity
I see two sets of jumpers - are you grounding back to the head ? or the remote bracket ? Junp to the head directley ,

Some times the motor bolt holding the tab has losey continuity from locktite some even run a seperate ground from the tab to a mount bolt.

Plug does glow when hooked up on the bench. It needs to glow when it's in the motor and your battery is hooked up.

Make sure one side of your wiring goes to the crankcase, the other goes to the center post. If you have that, you will have fire.

Engine dying when you remove the battery is a sign of a bad plug, idle too lean, idle too rich, idle setting (throttle arm) too low. Any or all of the four will do it. Even the main needle being too far open or closed can make you pull your hair out.

-----

At idle, with the battery removed, if the motor gradually slows down and stops, the idle is too rich.

If the motor gradually speeds up and ides, the idle is too lean.

-----

Try opening the main needle two turns instead of 2-1/2 initially.

If the idle is just too low to keep the darn thing running, advance your trim a bit.

-----

Hook a piece of fuel line up to the carb inlet nipple, open the main needle two or three turns, open the throttle barrel, and alternately blow/suck on the other end of the fuel line. If there are any blockages in the needle body/spraybar, you should be able to detect them and dislodge them this way.

The red jumper is hooked to the head and glow plug. The orange lead with the green fuel line on it is the lead from the remote glow.

Everything else in the pick is execs heli junk.

RX batt was hooked up in the photo.

I have been doing the "Blow through the fuel line to "Feel" the opening in the carb trick"

I truly think this motor is just junk. It has compression so thats not an issue. It has new O rings on the Low speed Needle and carb seat.
