Hi all,

What do you recommend when building a camera mount when it comes to vibration dampers or isolators? I have a T-Rex 450 that my friend and I are building a mount for. Obviously the camera and mount weight will be very low but I'd like to get your advice on what we could use to eliminate the slight vibrations coming from the chopper!

We're also trying to do this as inexpensively as possible, I should mention. I've seen compact wire rope isolators but it looks like I would need to make one myself since they don't seem to be popular in hardware stores.

I look forward to your responses! Thank you in advance.

Xeen,
try Hutchinson or Paulstra for E1E21S AL. Only 9g silicon rubber compound damper for electronics.

Thanks Ahmet, but do you have any idea where I can get my hands on those? I'd like to be able to go by a hardware store or fry's electronics or something if possible...

I may have found a good solution. I stopped by Osh Hardware and got some latex surgical tubing. I basically have the camera mount (think balsa wood and an ingenious construction my friend thought up) hanging from my TRex 450's skids with that tubing.

I did a test flight last night and there was no discernible vibration showing in the video. It was an incredible shift from the videos we've been taking, so we're going to play around with improving this but it's already at a point that's good to go.

I'll get some pictures of the various iterations of the mounts on my friend's and my journey towards aerial video/photography!
