for those who can't wait for the new hirobo SDX to come out there and wants to be the first on the block to get one, it is now available at http://www.rcjapan.net/ with item number H0403-956 for the swm version and H0403-957 for the hpm version. i understand if you get it imported, you won't have any warranties? it doesn't matter where i am from because none ever have warranties even if it's plastered all over the item

Ummm, when I was there I've bought a lot from Lils Hobby shop and everytime I got a problem, its been taken care of by Beng at Mega and Evelyn at Park Square. Better yet, get hold of Shakes, the owner if you have problem with your kit. They do honor product warranty plus they carry full parts for all Hirobo kits. Price is not that bad either when you consider the tax and shipping you pay for bringing in stuff abroad. And the single most advantage is that you could be flying the next day when you crash instead of waiting for parts to arrive.

Sounds really good. I received an email from RCpowersupply.com today stating that my SDX order is getting ready to be shipped over. With EMS shipment mine should arrive around next week. It usually takes only 5-7 days for it to come over here. The only thing that's a bummer is that it lands through USPS custody which means I have to sign it when they deliver, which also means if I'm not at home while they deliver, then I get one of those notices to pick it up at their office. Oh well, at least it gets here. Neat price too. Got it for $439 shipped instead of the initial $470. I guess they adjusted the shipping costs.

Do they charge your cedit card first when it ships? I got the green light from the gov. at home for one.

Thanks.

When you place a back order your card is not charged. When the back ordered item becomes available, you're contacted to make sure you still want it, and if you do, then your card is charged and the item is shipped out!

i'm not sure about the warranty at lil's, maybe because i never talked to beng, much less shakes. about their hirobo spares, they never seem to have what i need for my hirobo heli could be coincidence, but i think it's because my lepton isn't as popular as it was before i hope their sdx' arrives soon! and i hope their price will be competitive with online shops

2kwik2c: Thanks! Yup for sure he'll be one, but not like Justin Chi though (I couldn't bear thinking about accidents). He gets to play the simulator by 2yo. For the meantime, he watches daddy build and fly Yup will post build pix here too.

Henrik: Yup got the SWM version. Servo mounting design is same as my old Lepton and my Freya E3 SWM, very easy to set-up.

Gouki: The kit I got is the blade and muffler-less version. BTW, these are the 1st edition / production versions. So I'll be documenting the build and test flight well as a consumer and share here

I have to clarify this post of mine in regards to the SDX. I have contacted RCpowersupply and there's been a confusion on my part. Their shop haven't received any SDX kit yet. According to their rep it is still being prepped to be shipped out from Hirobo's facility in Japan. This good news is that Hirobo is beginning to deploy the kits to all distributors all over the world.

Because of my excitement I jumped the gun thinking they have shipped my SDX order out. They still are waiting for their own order from Hirobo so they can't fulfill my own order just yet. So I apologize for this inconvenience.

So ON with the waiting game.

Hi! Just finished building the SDX... it was a rush! Build time was about 12-14 hours including set-up on my 14MZ. Everything went well, just like building the old Sceadu Evo. All parts are perfect fit and you can really feel the Japanese quality. Most of the plastic parts are made of engineering plastic, you can see the grain/strands of the material. Its stiff and rigid but enough to give some flex. Its really an engineering marvel. IMHO its a well designed and engineered mod on the old sceadu.

Not official but I can confirm in comparison with the Sceadu Evo:
1. Swash plate is 135deg CCPM, can be configured to 120 (SWM version)
2. From the swash up, if I'm not mistaken, can be parts-shared with the D3.
3. Servo Frame, fits exactly on the old Sceadu. Servo arrangement is same as Freya Eagle SWM and Lepton (in-line). Old battery compartment was discarded.
4. Tail rotor is SAME as D3. Blue (plastic) redesigned blades come with the kit.
5. Skids are 1-piece molded, same height as the low-profile skids (Freya part), with Hirobo throwing in those nice rubber dampers on each corner.
6. Body is same made plastic but designed similar to the D3. Its now thinner and very nice stickers included. Hope they release a glass body soon.
7. Some option parts on the Sceadu Evo (OP) and Sceadu EX can be used here i.e. DTDS delrin gear set, 3rd bearing block, SD metal tail case, SD engine mount and SD fan hub, CF tail fins, etc.

Something to note on:
1. swash timing doesn't seem to be adjustable unlike the SSZ5? head on the Turbulence D3.
2. nothing else so far

Tomorrow will be the test flight. Will take some more pics and videos. Build pix will try to upload soon.

Poom: Estimate it will cost around 25,000 pesos, or probably cheaper than the old Sceadu Evo.

Sorry for the clutter of my work area and for the fuzzy pics coz I used cellphone camera. And sorry I don't have time to arrange the pictures in order.

Used the new Futaba 6008HS receiver (2.4GHz, high-speed)
