I will try to take some pics next to a 611.
Here's a side by side comparison to the 611, HUGE difference in size and weight.

For more pics of the 520 click HERE.

My only hope is that it is just a good a gyro as the 611. Then I will probably be buying a whole bunch of them.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

Will try My 520 on a BW tratus this weekend.
Ideed....much smaller than it looks in the pictures. Very easy to setup and fine/precise endpoints settings.
Cant wait to see how it does in the air!!!!!

From a conversation this week with the UK Futaba agent, Futaba are currently writing the software for the CIU-2 interface.
The driver software is already available on Futaba USA / download.

Once completed,we shall then be able to see what can be updated etc.

All I know at the moment is that you will be able to make all of the same existing adjustments as set by using the button / light system, but with your PC.

Mine is now located in my T-rex 250 and all I can say is it's the most solid gyro I have ever tried.
Extreamly simple and easy to set up

chickenrun, you shouldn't make assumptions my friend about people having a 520 and it is in a less than flyable condition now shall we say (gravity sucks), i was telling the truth you know.

anyway, as advised chickenrun, i know exactly what is in there, wish i didn't!

cheers

520 VS Spartan...
Are there any hard core 3d pilots out there than can coment and positively "feel" a difference between the 520 and the Spartan?
I'm talking through the moves..

I'm not talking about sport flyers or hovermasters...I was hoping to get the input from someone doing piro funnels...piro tic tocs etc...that have tried BOTH gyro's..

I am truly curious if the 520 is better

How about the performance compare with the GY611?

Of course the size is much smaller than Gy611, but I don't think this is a main reason to change as for Nitro 50 or 90, the weight does not the main reason to consider.

Thus, which one is better, 520 or 611?

I am nobody, but a RC heli freak

Sorry to hear about that, but it is at least cool to see the inner workings. What happened?

There is no way that flying any gyro back to back will truly be the end all be all of "better". The only way that can be found out is in a controlled environment. Any pilot saying they can feel one is "better" than the other is probably pom pomming it or being subject to the placebo effect. Fact of matter is, any current gyro out today can fly any manuever any pilot in the world can think of and do.

freakyreef, a link popped off and in she went

the gyro is toast. FWIW if you crash this gyro there is no way you will be able to get it fixed. it's a whole unit replacement. the reason i can say this is the entire inside is basically a silicon blob and the pcb placed inside. i had to take the silicon off (silcon eater) to get at the actual gyro.

cheers

Tried mine out today, one flight to get the gain and piro speeds where I wanted it, second to give it a whirl. Was pretty dam chilly out but the first thing I noted was that the stops were very nice. On my Spartans not that is it a big deal but I always in any model "need" the USB cable and need to set the stops as always CCW is always abit harsh on fast stops, and almost always on Spartan need to set the deceleration as well. The Futba 520 with just stick/button programming has very nice stops and I am not sure I could improve the way it feels on hard stops and in abrupt maneuvers. As a test I did some slow piro funnels, pie dishes and the the piro seemed to be very consistent, which goes against what many have been saying about inconsitency of the slow piros.... definetely as consitent imho as the Spartan "with" the newest updates. Fast hurricanes tail inverted, back upright etc it held really great. I need some more flights in hopefully warmer weather. Hope on weekend to get a gathering of a few peeps that have the Spartan on same machine with settings etc to do more direct comparisons. So far however with just doing the out of the box programming it is working fantastic. As Rappy says though, any of todays gyros are going to be all we need and more, I did not buy this assuming it would be better but just to try it, so far it seems to be a great little gyro though.

The plug and play and two minute setup was real nice, plus the fact that this gyro worked perfect with a servo that my mini-g was not working well with.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

i have a dx7 and jr 290 tail servo in my trex 250. gain is at %20 in the gear channel. but why do i have a bounce when stopping both directions? if i turn gain down any more it gets sloppy. any higher i get a wag. i have got everything setup i think correctly. im using the 3mm tape that came with it and without the metal plate. should i use the plate and other tape? im confused but seems like its going to be a sweet gyro. very responsive.

Flys Holds And setup Extermly Easy
The Gyro is compatible with Digital 1520us and 760 uS

When you see it, you need to look again, smaller than anything i ve ever seen, Follow the direction in the manual. You ber saying WOW need 10 more.

Do you have the ball in 3-5mm from center of horn? You need resolution with any gyro.

The manual says to start with 70% on normal and 40% on your idle ups to start on a Futaba radio. The 40% worked out just right but the 70% was waaaaaaaaaay toooo much. I would start with no more than 55% in normal. That was on a Trex700. 70% seemed ok so far on throttle hold but I only did a half dozen or so autos.

Flew great and maintains piro rate no matter what you do to try to confuse it.

Any one know if any of these are in the UK yet? I have searched online and although a lot of sites have them for sale they actually do not have stock yet. While others will take a deposit but cannot offer a delivery date. Typical UK always behind!
