Thanks for the info.

Mine are on a Pantera with a .70 and a TREX700 with a YS.91SR. Can't wait to try them out. 27degrees and snowing with winds of 35mph should be the acid test!! OK maybe I will wait for a nicer day.

I don't know how it can be any better than the Mini G, the Mini G holds awesome and the piro rates are spot on.

the Mini-G has been working great here on a Aeolus 50, no complaints.

Several grams aren't going to make too much a difference on this model. However, I'll look into getting the 520 for the next model.

You could make yourself crazy by constantly going smaller when new stuff comes out... I guess we're all somewhat like that

Don't be so sure. The latest isn't always the greatest! The Spartan has far superior electronic design with 12bit ADC, better sensor spec and active filter. Also the new ds760 V2 firmware is a significant improvement over the 1.08 and much better than any other gyro I have tried including the GY520. After the hype is over I am sure we will see many switching back to Spartan.

I have both. I think the GY520 has the edge on performance.

Also, the Futaba is capable of a much faster piro rate than the Spartan. I found this out when I replaced my Spartan and didn't adjust the rudder ATVS. 120% is wicked fast!
you do know that EVERY gyro made can piro at the same speed? obviously not going on your comments i guess. all you do is bump the ATV's up above what the sensor is capable of and away it goes.....max MECHANICAL yaw.

cheers

Can you update firmware on the 520 or are you stuck with what it comes with for life?

Think I'll pass then. The ability to continually improve an existing product to keep up with competition...FOR FREE...is too valuable to return back to a unit that allows you to be stuck in time. The Spartan is just too flexible to pass over for Futaba's new, smaller "611". That's essentially what this is.

I agree. The Spartan is just 'sick'! To say the 520 is better.. its either a misconception from all the excitement or... its just one bad a$$ mini-611. Either way, if you can't upgrade the firmware.. what's new today is old tomorrow. Having said that, it might be top notch now but the Spartan will always be one step ahead.

Firmware is not a make it or break it thing for me. If it holds well, piros consitently and is smooth out of the box, its all good. Unless the laws of physics are changing constantly, the gyro should be able to work fine once you get it, my opinion. Kinda funny, once I changed my Spartan for a Solid G to fly and when I was done flying once, a guy whos seen me fly that same machine with a Spartan commented on how well the Spartan was working on the heli. I let him in that I changed it out to the Solid G, he was like, wtf? lol. With these new gyros performance is literally like splitting hairs, they are all just awesome, it really has come down to just choose one and be happy with the camp your in.

What I meant was the 520 piros faster for the same ATV setting.

NOTES FROM OUR TECH DEPARTMENT

This is the PC Interface for the Futaba
MC401CR (FUTM0905), MC601C (FUTM0910) and the
MC850C (FUTM0950) Programmable Speed Controls.

This, I would guess.

It don't matter how you get there, if you don't know where your going.

I would imagine you could update the firmware. Since you can program it via the computer using the adapter, I can't see why they would design it to not allow firmware updates.

You know you have to many heli's only when your wallet is empty.

I think we have some loyal die hard Spartan fans on this thread

It's amazing how many Spartan pilots have used tested dismantled checked and given their opinion on the 520 even before it was out

Cheers
