Heres the story, I use 3151s for everything on my raptor 50. Cyclic, throttle, collective. Ive got a 9254 on the tail obviously but thats besides the point. What Im asking is torque wise and longevity wise NOT speed wise, can 3151s handle tic tocs, loops, rolls, and whatever else? Im not talkin crack moves, just light 3d? I know there slow and I dont care about that, Im looking at 9252s at the moment for collective and throttle but cyclic seems to be responsive enough for me for the time being. Has anyone ever burned up 3151s by abusin em? Im wondering what kind of load their seein up in the air

Those servos are not good for anything besides a throttle servo if that. Not enough torque to do anything. It has less torque then a S9254 rudder servo.

SPECS:
Speed: 0.21 sec/60° @ 4.8V
0.17 sec/60° @ 6V
Torque: 43 oz-in @ 4.8V
54 oz-in @ 6V

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I know the specs, Ive been flying them for a year with no problems at all so I dont know where this change of thought came from but I thought Id throw it out there.

Go with the Futaba S9452 instead of the s9252 for the same prise.
It's only a mater of time before the s3151 fail on you're 50, I wouldn't put them on anything larger then a 30, and I've had them fail to center on my Raptor 30 on the collective, but since I have a bunch of them I just replace them till I run out.

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter.

At the very least, throw a 9252 or 9452 on the collective

I used the Futaba 3305 for the pitch servo on my old Raptor. It is cheap and has tons of torque. Great for lazy sunday flying.

I don't see any issues with running a 3151 on the cyclic of a Raptor 50, because the flybar acts as power steering.

The pitch servo is another issue. IMO a 3151 will not do. I use a 9350 on 6volts which gives it 139 oz/in.

You will notice the difference on quick pitch changes.

Yup see thats my only problem, cyclic is ok for now but collective is ugly somtimes. Makes tic tocs look horrible. But for big loops and rolls there great. Im lookin for two 9452s at the moment. One for collective and one for throttle. Thats would be plenty good enough for me for the time being.

I wouldn't even attempt a tic toc with a 3151 on the pitch. That has to be beyond ugly. There is no way that servo is holding its position.

I have tried it and actually its really not THAT ugly. The tic toc just has to be a little "bigger". But its not as crisp as it would be with a faster servo though

IMO the R50 needs the metal pitch arm upgrade. The plastic bends to much on hard moves.

I suppose you could do rainbows. But just slamming it back and forth, I can't see it.

If you are pulling it off, good job. If your pulling it off with a 3151 great job.

Full blown tic tocs are %100 do-able with 3151s and 10% nitro fuel, Ive proved it today. My video camera was dead but I will get a video soon. I dont mean half ass tic tocs, I mean full blown. Sure theyd be just a little easier with faster servos but with a little collective management, you can do anything. I even got into 4 point tic tocs a little which can be done easily also. BUT, one thing I will agree on is the need of a governer. A governer would help my manuevers alot, I lose a little in tic tocs and then gain alot coming out of an inverted loop or whatever else you do when hanging at 0 or in the negatives. My servos were staying cool also during all this 3D but I believe that in the future Im going to 9252s just for the fact that Ill eventually burn these 3151s up, thats almost inevitble.
