Hey all, This is my rx out of its case. The antenna line broke off on one side and is about to on the other. Can I just replace it by grabbing some wire of the same diameter and length and solder it one? Or is this a special type or..... I've heard they have to be a certain length. Any info would be greatly appreciated I don't want to have to replace it because of this. Here's a pic.

Just put shrink tubing on mine to avoid that! Hope you get your fix, then do that to protect them a lil more!

I'm not sure about it! I hope you can, but I have shrink tubing covering the antennas and just the very end is visible. You said you have fuel tubing?

Is the one that is broken going to affect my range or signal? I had some left over clunk tubing that used before but I don't know how it broke. I can do the job of soldering a new one but I just want to make sure it won't hurt it cause it needs to be a special wire. Once its fixed I will use some heat shrink next time to protect it better.

I'm sure that someone here will have the answer; if not give them a call and tech support will have the answer. Last summer it was a guy at the field that claimed that one of the antennas fell off and he called and they told him to send it in for repair and they sent him a new one instead.(that's what he said)

But I put shrink tubing on mines after listening to a guy that have been flying for LONG time. That's the people I tend to follow their opinions and "tricks of the trade"

Here is what I was told to do.

The wire is nothing special at all - Just get some similar diameter multi-strand wire and your good to go.

The length is extremely important though so make sure you have the exact same length (31mm) when you finish - You can always solder a longer length on and then just cut it to the correct length. The total length should be carefully measured from the solder joint right to the end of the wire.

Adding heat shrink to the wire is a good idea as it adds some strength to the wire which prevents it from bending very easily. It also adds some strain relief where the wire exits the Rx case. Just use some heat shrink which is only just slightly larger than the wire and you should be right

It is also a good idea to let the heat shrink overhang the end of the wire by a couple of mm so that it stops any exposed strands of wire from coming into contact with anything conductive.

I put a Small admount of hot glue along the wire then apply heat shrink
tubing over the wire.

Makes the wire strong and stops it bending
