my se with stock esc motor
hs 65mg x 3
401-9257 fut (ends in 7 lol i forget) set in digital mode.
2200 3 cell

10/-10 pitch

Now it hovers fine, fast forward flight fine, but if i hit the throttle to fast it kicks the tail to the right.(alot)

Also when switching from stunt back to normal it kicks out bad.

Another strange thing is that i have to have my gain (in dx7) up to 93 in normal mode. This is the highest i have ever had to set the gain. Stunt i havent fine tuned yet to see where it has to be.

I have the round futaba servo horn with 0 trim or sub trim.

No binding all dry lubed.

I havent attemted and 3d due to the tail issue so i would love to get this figured out. LOL

Im pretty sure it has something to do with my tail setup, but im not sure what.

throttle and pitch curves are linear in normal.

are you running your gyro on the gear channel and using atv?

you could also try moving the ball out 1 hole on the tail servo arm

did you set the 401 up in rate mode or the short cut way?

I fixed my issue I was having a week or so ago, but during hard punch outs, my tail is blowing out about 2-3 inches as well. I have uped my gain, but it dosent go away.

I also have my limit set to 110, and have the ball all the way out, and running my ATV at 110 both right and left. The tail seems fast and true during fast Piro's, and when I let of and goto ceter stick, it stops as fast as I think it's suposed to...

Should I try a longer arm, thus, getting the ball even farther out?

well after some playing around, i think that i found the problem. i dont think i had enough travel on my tail.

I now have full motion left and right with no binding at either endpoint. Its almost 11:30pm so no testing tonight.

As long as the storms hold off tomorrow, i will test it out.

So a bit more ATV clears this issue up?

this can be tricky when first setting up gyros.ATV/EPA does not affect travel(on most, a 401 is included) on an HH gyro.it affects your piro rate

what you need to do is use the shortest ball lenght that still gives you full travel, and set your limits on the gyro, the less limiting you need to do electrinically the better

what I mean is dont use a really long servo arm and cut the travel WAY down with the gyro limit, this will kill your resolution

I understand, the shortest link possible, with the most travel possible.

This could take alot of experimenting....

How i have mine set up now is full travel with the travel adj on the 401 turned of of full just a hair.(i mean a hair) That stopped the binding and gave me full travel side to side.

100% in the radio and no trim or sub trim at all. It held great in my living room and was killer resposive.

Now i need the rain to go away today so i can test it out for real. But i can see a noticable difference already.

Yeah, its rock solid. I love it. I had it out today for a pack and there was 15-20 mph gusts and the tail held awsome. Now the heli as one, lol, it wanted to take off. LOL i didnt have the balls to go another pack.

All in all i have approx 8 packs on the new setup and i love it.
