I'm in the market for Trex600N and have a question regarding Governor. I am a newbie so I'm wondering if I need to have gov.
Also, I've been told that I'm better off with Sport rather than the Pro model due to belt driven tail which is more forgiving in the event of a crash. True?

There is less to go wrong with a belt.

With a Torque tube, if the tail hits the ground, something is going to give $$. Personally, I purchase the tail gears in a 3 pack, saves on shipping costs.

If you are just hovering, a gov will not do much for ya. There is nothing wrong with learning to set up a throttle curve. And when you get to the point of needing a gov., you will not have to ask, you'll know.

Thank you for the information.
Since I will only hover for now, I'd probably go without the governor.
I noticed that most stores only carry the Pro kit. Is it easy to convert torque drive to belt drive? or do you even recommend that route?

Get the pro version and save on some electronics over the NSP. You can always upgrade the Heli later once you get used to it. With the savings you could get some better servo's of gyro. I went with a Spektrum AR7100R RX which is everything you need. Use the included revlimiter. It works like a charm and keeps the headspeed in check. If you need help setting up there are plenty of us who will gladly point you in the right direction.

Good luck on your choice.

I have flown the standard and now own the 600 pro. Personally at your stage, you will not tell a difference in flight characteristics. The standard is probably the smarter choice because of the belt tail drive. To be honest, I have never flown with a governer until recently. It is definately not necessary but I enjoy using one. It gives me one more toy to play with and the piece of mind with headspeed.

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

+1 on the belt. If you have someone to help you setup your throttle curves you dont need a gov. If you dont it will be alot easier to setup a gov than trying to learn to setup throttle curves the hard way.
