I picked up these one piece dampers and have a install question. One side has a slight bevel on it. should that side face in on the head block?

Well....It wouldn't be the fist time a LHS gave out wrong advice (mine does it ALL the time.) It's very clear in the instructions. You want the flat side on the inside so it seats perfect inside the head. If the flat side was out, the damper wouldn't seat correctly.

It's in the NSP manual (pg 5.) That kit comes with those dampers so installation is covered. If you have a kit that diddn't include the new dampers, it wont be in your manual. I actually tried to find a manual online with no luck. You should just take our advice....we (and the manual) are correct. Also let your LHS know they are giving wrong instructions. A simple "I don't know" is much better than BS anyday.

No luck in finding the NSP manual but I did find the 700 manual. It uses similar style dampers. The instruction shows the orientation.
