well i would be setting the 1 aside till i felt confident in flying heli number 1 first but what do you think of that motor and esc will the align esc hold up to the 2221-8 ? i have it so i might as well use it unless the is a risk of damage to the heli !! via crash becuase a burnt up esc

P.S thanks for everyones help i do liek this crowd of beam people seems to be a good adult crowd of people responding not jsut a bunch of kids that really dont know what there talkign about i think the beam was a good choice!!!

Mabey one day i will actually land one of these things !!

scorpion 2221-6 for beginers
Ok guys I'm not that expert of a pilot but the setting of my heli is 2221-6 on 11t,40amp esc and the battery is a-123 3cell not a lipo and it gives me 6min on the air in stunt mode my freind that is a 3d pilot with my heli doing 3d still gives him 6min that's at 80% line with 10.5 of pich(±).

yes, the lower pinion the less headspeed/longer flight times you will have.

Thanks for you're help but the good thing of the battery that I use is you don't have to wait to cooldown finishing flying and plug it in to charge [color=blue]

bobby, Have you compared your heli with someone that is running a HK-2221-8 w/3S lipos. I'm asking because you are losing over 4400rpm on your motor using 3S 123.

How you can lose that kind of rpm (4400) that's to much the heli flys great and gives me good respond for 3d flying (tiptops,inverted,funel,ect...

I was asking because of the voltage diffrence between A123 and Lipos.

ok I did flu the beam with lipos ones and with the correct settings it runs the same performance now I'm going to change the pinion of the motor for a 14t now it has a 11t and lest see how it works for me. I'm trying to set up a vid for the construction of the a-123 home made but at the helimag there's a company that sells them allready made there expensive compaird to what I spend with mine tha pack I had it at home from a drill rechargeble dwalts battery pack still doing some test but so far so good.

I got the scorpion 55amp esc for a -6 that I just ordered. Is that enough??? I read that everybody has the 60amp one but I don't need to run a 450 on 6cells. I just want to stay with 3s. I assume 55A is okay since the motor specs say "Max Continuous Current: 52 Amps"

You'll be fine with that 55amp ESC. Go fly and enjoy!

Funny thing 770, is that I got a jr7703d on my 400 and its GREAT!

I wouldn't run a scorpion motor with a 35 amp ESC with a 3S setup. If you go 4S it should work fine. The scorpion motors eat AMPs, and low C ratting batteries. I burnt up a Quark 33a on a Scorpion 2221-8 with a 13t pinion, on a run time of 4.5 minutes. It didn't burn up immediatly, it took awhile.

But, as the voltage goes up you are swapping volts for amps. Thus, a 4S, will use less amps, and more voltage, and you'll be less likely to overheat the ESC.

Again, some guys are running less than a 45 amp ESC on a scorpion with a 3S setup. IMO - I'd go with the manufactures specs.

Old Guys Rule!
