Higher headspeed = greater stability but less flight time

The loss a a min of flight time might be worth it for the stability.

LOL, that motor is insane for a beginner. Better off to swap in a 2221-8.

Really oh boy !!! It came with the beam i purchased so would u recomend selling it and swapping somthing else in there ?

I understand higher headspead makes for more stable heli but doesnt it also make it alot more responsive wouldnt i then be dealing with a rocket ship once i touch the sticks

Yes, plus you will get about 3.5 min flights.

I agree with hanging onto the motor, its a beast for when you get there.

Plus, you need beastly lipos, or he'll just kill all the sub par ones people usu start with.

I have an 11t on mine, and get 4:20@80% with 90% on the jazz.

What does anyone think about this http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bi...?&I=LXWDJ4&P=ML

No it's not a good motor for 4S. The -6 is on the near rediculous end of the power spectrum. It's a fun ride but even though I have no problem handling it, it's basically wasted amps. If you do want to run it in the meantime throw a 10t pinion on it.

ok i guess im gonna run the 2221-8 motor with an align 35amp esc as long as that will work and i will save the 60amp esc and 2221-6 for when i get a little more comfertable with my flying skills

ps not much action seems to go on on the beam section!????

Mabey one day i will actually land one of these things !!

Why are you ditching the Scorpion esc?

to answer the initial question..

use a 10t pinion

add some flybar weights and use a reasonable pitch curve

but once u go scorpion -6, you will realise other motors are slow.

im using it on my 450v2, 100% flat throttle, +/-11.5 pitch.. vplus 33c lipo... try it

my idea in ditching the esc is to save it for another build later and use that motor and esc for a nice 3d machine if i get there !

i figured im probably gonna wreck at some point might as well save the better esc for when im a little better why do u think that the 2221-8 motor will be to much did some research and people say that they are running that esc with that motor and no problems ??

has anyone tried do you recomend that i dont use it ?

mabey i should just throw an align 430xl motor on ??

also i have these parts allready so its not liek i have to purchase them just need to decide what to use to start

Mabey one day i will actually land one of these things !!

The Scorpion ESC is just a better ESC, and you dont need to spend money on another ESC. Also, i have never had an ESC break in a crash.

I wouldnt mind building an extra heli so that i could have my extreme 3d ready heli for when i feel like i could fly it i almost have enough stuff to make 2 right now anyway

so basicly i would be able to have 2 beams

1st one the one i would use would be setup liek this

beam
scorpion 2221-8
align 35amp esc
ltg2100t
3100g tail
3cyclic hs65mg
align woodies 325mm

2nd one that would get to sit on the wall for a while would be like

beam
scorpion 2221-6
scorpion 60amp v2
jr7703d
3 cyclic hs5065mg
s9257 tail
thunderpower 325mm blades

all i need to make these 2 helis is another beam kit !!

Mabey one day i will actually land one of these things !!

two interchangeable helis is a good idea..

you will always have a favourite though..

the main advantage is you can keep flying hours up

if you are crashing a lot, replace the metal gears on your hitec with the karbonites.. they are identical

stripped gears are cheaper than burnt servos..

mixing metal with karbonite is wat i practice on my 65s. they will actually survive crashes better..
