Just trying to make some plans to visit my old stomping ground in Indy while in Muncie for the nats. What is the normal start and end time on each day for the Heli competition at the nats (rough estimate is fine)?

There's a Pilot's meeting on the first day at 6pm. The usual start time in the mornings is around 8-9am. Last downs are around 6pm if it's a three round day.

Will a schedule be posted on the AMA website? So I presume then that on July 7th we don't have to be at the field until 6 pm for the pilots meeting and that the actual flying is July 8, 9, 10, and 11th and those days will be about 8 am?

Correct. The actual schedule of flying is determined at the pilot's meeting, after the total number of competitors is official. Last year, we ran all classes from the same flightline, due to limited numbers not requiring two flightlines.

Normally we try to have models in the air as early as 8-8:30A or as soon as the sun is high enough to be safe (N facing field). The sun gets in a similarly bad place after about 5:30-6p, so we're normally done comfortably before that. We're also hungry by then, too <g>.
