I have a question if anyone would like to help me?
I'm looking at 2 radios Spektrum spm2710 and spm2712. One says air 2710 the other says Heli but I don't see a difference. Can anyone help.

The only difference should be no ratchet on the throttle.

And the switches and such are labeled differently. I think I heard somewhere the 3 position switch is in a different location on the airplane version too. Don't know for sure. They both do exactly the same thing though. You can use either for helis or airplanes.

You get both the ratchet strap and smooth strap with both versions. Just the airplane is default ratchet and the heli is not. The three position switches are in a different spot and are labeled differently. The heli version defaults to heli program and the airplane defaults to airplane program. Other than that just the icon in the bottom right corner is different.

If you're going to fly helis at all get the heli version, it's a no brainer to fly planes on a heli radio but the switch position is a nusance flying helis on the airplane radio and especially if you have any regular heli guy thats going to help you it will be easier on him/her

I second the nusance flying helis on the airplane version. When I bought my DX7, I mistakenly bought the airplane version. It's worked well, but if you're primarily flying helis, go with the heli version.

On the airplane version, the 3 position switch (flight mode for helis, flap for airplane) is above the throttle stick instead of the top left corner opposite the throttle hold. That's really the only functional difference in the radio that can't be re-programmed.

For helicopters on the airplane version, the gear switch (in the throttle hold location on the top right corner) is used for throttle hold, the gear channel on the RX is used for gyro gain, and the flight mode selection is on the flap switch. The other differences (besides the default programming and the default ratchet) are cosmetic.

Like barracuda said, for helis get the heli version.

I fly gliders, helis, small and large planks on my heli radios. I've even modded quite a few throttle sticks for guys that flew my planes and liked the heli throttle action better.
