I have a YS 80 in a Pantera I just bought... My starter will not turn the engine over...This a Robbe Super starter that has never let me down before on any engine...Went as far to try a 18 volt drill...
NO LUCK ...pop....strain...pop... Took the plug out...turns great...no fuel lock... My first YS motor
Any help appreciated...

Can you try a higher voltage to your Robbe before investing in something new?

Most drills (regardless of voltage) don't turn enough RPM's to start a big engine. They're built for torque, not for speed.

They're turn it for a while, but usually you'll flood it before she fires.

MOST heli starters will start anything with 18-20 volts.
Up the voltage on the starter you have now, you may be surprised.

I really wasn;t expecting the drill to start it. But I thought it would turn it on the high torque setting better than it did..

Hooked to a deep cycle marine battery... I thought the starter would turn it no problem..

Are these engines this high compression ??
