I like the vibe 50 build quality but I think the canopy is ugly. The N5 canopy and heli should be a work of art.

my 2 cents worth,

regarding the Vibe 50:

Great parts quality.

Kinda heavy but flys good.

Has way too many parts.

Not enough room to mount radio equipment without stacking it up.

Notorious high frequency vibration problems with tail torque tube and clutch, this destroys various parts at will. Belt drive conversion will probably fix it just fine.

Little to no support from manufacturer.

Ball links too tight must all be resized.

Tail blades included in the kit are only good for stirring epoxy.

Peace Through Superior Firepower!!!

Flies fantastic, not just good. The my TRex flies like crap by comparison.

You can put a TRex radio tray in the Vibe 50... much cleaner... the stock design does suck.

I have no vibe problems with mine at all. I think it all has to do with proper gear mesh, NOT locktiting the torque tube bearing on the torque tube (use CA instead), poor motor balance, and yes, crappy tail blades.

I've had awesome support from Horizon... they sent me a couple new parts sight-unseen... didn't even have to return anything.

Ball-links do need sizing, but now they seem to last forever. All other ball-links would be showing signs of wear by now, but mine are staying perfectly adjusted.

Take the vibe head off of your trex 600 that should fix it.

During my build the head spindle wasn't tapped correctly on one side.
Missing sme hardware.

Good design except TT bearing holder. It should have been 2 delrin or hard plastic holders for the bearing and 2 better o-rings on the outside.

Tail blades are good for a 200 size heli or as mchammers says expoxy stirrers.

I've flown one already and it seems stable tracks nice. I fly mine next week after work.

Phil I know you said only stuff flying already, but I think the N5 is the one to look for. If it is anything like my N9, it will be a very good design. Low parts count, tough construction, flys like a pattern plane.

I read somewhere else that the TZ-Frenzy is not a Vibe but an Airskipper with a Vibe canopy?

The Frenzy is as follows.

--Frame is similar to the Vibe 50
--Canopy is like the Vibe 50
--Head is like a Vibe50/Outrage 550/Century Raven-Predator and others that use the same head setup
--Tail is like a Raptor 50
--Main Gear Raptor 50
--Clutch/Fan like Raptor 50
--Radio Tray like Trex 600
--Tail Drive system Trex 600

It isn't really a "clone" as it is not a direct copy of anything. More like they chose the things they liked about other helis and incorporated them into their Heli.

All-in-All, does it really matter. It is priced right and flies great.

It matters to me in terms of being able to get parts. It would be an advantage if I could use other brand parts as needed. Sounds like I need to have one of these!

I spent last year going around looking at every different heli, at ircha I got to fly just about every 50 there is and I settled on the vibe because the quality is amazing, you get good support from horizon, the thing tracks very well parts dont wear out links don't fall off(like my T-rex) it does not develop slop in the head and tail, the canopy mounts are very nice(unlike my T-rex that destroys canopys in the air) and the TT and gears are very beefy.

Marty,

A Main is going to be the only shop to sell this Heli. That could be bad or good. Good because they can control the price and could be bad if they do not support it with parts. Everytime I have spoken to them, I have mentioned this and the fear of not being able to get parts a year from now. Everytime they have given me the feeling that they are very committed to making this helicopter a success. So that would make you think they are going to keep a good supply of parts.

Nice thing about this price, you could buy two and have a complete kit for spares. If/When you crash, take the parts of the "donor" and fix your "flyer" and then order the parts to fix the "doner". That is how I am going to do it.

There is no doubt there are some really nice machines out there. Sure the Vibe/Knight 50 and others just scream quality. But that does not mean that this is a bad heli. In fact I am very happy with it and it will be my daily flyer for sure.

Well, they dropped the Pantera. Fortunately parts for it are available elsewhere but it does give one pause. The kit is cheap enough though that this probably isnt really a big deal either way. I might give one a try.

Marty,

According to John Beech, he is the one that pulled the Pantera out of A Main. He stated in a post that he called A Main and told them that since they were carrying the TZ Frenzy, that he did not want them selling his Pantera any longer. I do not remember where he stated that, either here or HF. He may have edited the post as well so it might not be found anymore. But that was straight from him. So A Main did not drop it by their choice.

If you have the money and stuff to trim out another 50, give the Frenzy a try. Hell, at that price, if it only lasted a year and fell apart, who would care :P. Just buy another. I think you will be very surprised at what you get for the money .
