First big UK meet of the Season..Charmouth. At least 5 different 700's blew out main gears..

Not good enough Align, you need to urgently address this please.

Some of the pilots had suffered several failures since the 700's outset so is in no way is this an isolated problem. We are talking dozens of gears here since last years 3D championships

Take note:- its giving the 700 a bad reputation and loosing you sales on what is otherwise a decent heli.

Thank You rant over.

Doesnt work.

It is mainly cos of the lack of pinion support, Lack of a 3rd bearing block and brittle main gears that werent tested in anything less than 35 deg C

Useless

Isn't general Align quality meant to be poor? I believe it's why they do the super pro versions. Should be the standard really. Quality mechanical parts instead of cheap inclusive avionics - that's what's needed!

3D?? No - just another input error!!!

Mine went after just a a couple of gallons.

Both of my replacement gears I have noticed are also not properly round so the pinion to gear mesh is not consistent. Along with the releatively fine gears sooner of later many pilots are stippping these in flight.

Clearly it's costing money in loss of flying time, potential crash costs and replacement gears.

It would be great if Align say they will at least investigate this as it's still an issue.

The point is that Align should fix their own problem and not charge their customers for their mistake.

Apparently not!

At least one guy on the other thread had his new CNC microheli gear strip faster than a 10 dollar hooker!

Saturday morning I flew my helicopter in my pajamas
How it got in my pajamas I'll never know

Things tried that aren't working. Some help but dont cure.

re-meshing..metal clutch block. Delrin Main gear. Align -1 larger gear.

Possible cures. 3rd main bearing block still being tested. Was at 4 gallons last time I checked.

Mod 1 gear and Pinion combined with good materials.

I think it will be a combo of mod 1 gear/pinion and 3rd brg block as the main gear is below the lower mainshaft bearing so any movement in the frames is amplified

Align needs to look into this a lot closer as its spoiling an otherwise nice heli.

It would be in there own interest to research this more fully as we are talking almost constant failures in some cases Pilots are on 5/6/7th gear already with apparently no machine related issues.

Pretty major FF in Vegas within the past week where a lot of 700N's were present. Would be interesting to know if any of the pilots there were having the same issue.

Knock on wood I'm using the -1 gear and a metal clutch block and things are ok through 3 gallons. I'm not a huge stick banger pilot though so that could be why.

the 700 with the 3rd bearing block and adjustable mesh is at 4 1/2 gallons now, the gear hasn't yet stripped but the gears getting the good old algn black crap on it, so i don't think it will be too long before it fails

and i'm waiting for the mod 1 gears to come out as i'm going to try them

and did somebody say out of round gears all my new and old ones are out of round
and the microheli derlin gears don't need hard 3d to strip a club mate of mine who's only flying 8's has stripped one and it has the ali clutch block as well

if align bother to read this then you have lost one customer cus i'll never buy another align heli
they are just too dear to keep running, the crash spares may be cheap but its the quantaty of spares you need to replace due to failure/rapid wear thats the problem

Why don’t you just return the 700s back to the suppliers under the unfit for purpose act and let the suppliers force Align into putting it right, if your new car was striping gears would you go out and buy replacements and do the job yourself or take it back?
There’s big money spent in this hobby yet we just expect the product to be poor and put up with it why?

I only like to fly gassed up

I bet this will do the trick. I installed mine and haven't looked back. Very simple, adjust pinnion block to main gear and then engine to cluth bell. And if the rumored 108 engines hit the market and pinions need to be changed your all set.

Main gear issues..
Hi all..

I belive i was the first who build in a 3rd maingear bearing on a 700 due to maingear wear..
Nobody belived my point of view what the real problem is. But the mod is working perfect, and havent changed the gear for about 8gal.

You can find my mod in Helfreak under Trex700 topic Maingear..
