Now, I have focused on flying 500 size e-heli only. I have flew or owned:

Trex 500
logo 400
logo 400 v-bar
compass atom
Hirobo lepton

I fly 3D, and here is my own ranking:
1) Compass atom
2) logo 400 V-bar
3) Trex 500
4) logo 400
5) lepton

Here is the reasons:
Compass Atom
Adv. Cheap, fast, direct and smooth. very good for hard 3D
disadv. a bit difficult to repair esp the tail, parts ont easy to find

Logo 400 V-bar
Adv, smooth, more power, direct, good for 3D
Disadv. Hard to setup, esp need time to setup the tail perfectly (if not crashed)

Trex 500
Adv: cheap, parts easily avaliable, stable, easy to repair, good for beginner
Disadv. Not fast enought,

Lepton
Adv: tapcial Hirobo Products, good looking, nice CNC parts,
Disadv: soft CNC, limited batteries size, original motor and ESC are hot,

The above are only my personal experience, I am looking for chance to fly MSH and Vibe 500E.

Very important point I want to add is: 500 size can use standard size servos.

I am nobody, but a RC heli freak

That is why I got the one in the middle.
The only problem that I had in the set up was that I Put the CCPM in the transmitter and that was a no no.

I don't know of any 500 sized heli (swings 425mm blades) That uses standard sized servos on cyclics

As far as the Protos is concerned, it will be an awesome flying heli. I am sure you will enjoy it.......Ron

The HDX500SAS uses standards...I'm not sure, but I think the SE can hold standards too, and mini's if you want the weight savings.

Having owned the Trex 500 and Atom I agree with your take on those 2....and I would also add that the Atom is more stable and has a FAR better tail than the 500 too.

No. We lived there from 2004-2007...well, my wife lived there, I lived in Iraq and Ft. Lee, VA. I was the S2/3 at the 257th TC BN on NE 8th Avenue. We moved down there and 7 months later I was sent to Iraq for a year, then when I got back I was home for 4 months then send to Ft. Lee, VA for the Captians Career Course for 6 months, then I moved directly up here to Deleware. We lived there for 3 years, but I was only there for a combined total of about 11 months.

Trex 500 not fast enough? Wow. What kind of flip rate are you looking for!

Forgot to mention....
Logo 400 = Expensive Kit, Expensive Parts

Helicopters - 1000 parts flying in formation.

I do believe you have not tried Atom500.

I strongly advise you try it, it is unbelievable. Especially if you fly hard 3D, you will feel what is really fast and Rock.

Trex 500, I fly +/- 13 degree and +/- 7 for cyclic.
Atom 500, I fly +/- 12 degree and only +/- 5 for cyclic.

For atom, even with this setting, I still need to set-up for higher expo and D/R.

For logo 400, the price is much reasonable. In fact, the price is more less same with atom and Trex 500. But the main difference is Logo 400 is plastic. But if people do mind plastic, the flying character is still much better than Trex 500.
