Hi guys I am looking for a good camera for video ap, just found some interesting solutions but some are limited to 24p...is that to slow shutter speed? would that give blurred movements in the sequence?

if any of you have any experience in real life 24p ap shooting please give me some advice..

Thanks
Lele

Hi Lele,

24p is the frame rate. It means the camera basically takes 24 pictures per second. Shooting 24p does require you to pan the camera very slowly or you will get very notchy looking footage. Also if the camera is looking straight ahead and lets say a car goes by at 55 mph perpendicular to the lens, the car is going to look very jumpy as it goes by. The closer to the camera the worse it will be. You will want to shoot roughly 1/100 of second shutter speed with this setting. If you shoot too fast a shutter speed things will look notchy and if you shoot too slow of a shutter speed things will blur.

We shoot almost everything at 24p, we may overcrank or undercrank from 24p to get the desired effect, but 24p is what most people want.

I hope this helps

24fps was the minimum frame rate required to record audio in the days when audio was burned into film. For aerial video, the frame rate should be as high as possible. Unfortunately, most customers don't know this fact.

The need for 24p varies greatly depending on the client.

I personally would not buy a camera that only shot 24p, but I can't think of any camera worth buying that only shoots 24p. Usually 24p is considered an added bonus of your camera shoots that frame rate.

Like Wayne said, you can shoot 60p (If your camera does that) and overcrank on a 24p timeline.

It is a little bit harder shooting 24p because you have to be so careful with camera movements and helicopter movements. We wanted to get real good with that frame rate so that we would never get on set somewhere and be worried about what the footage is going to look like if we had to shoot 24p. Look at it this way; if you get really good at 24p, then everything else is gravy.

In that case Wayne, I need to shoot 120fps.
