Ive never run a governer nor did I ever think I would, but now that Im getting more and more aggressive in my flying, Im afraid of what the headspeed actually is when the engine isnt under load like at zero pitch in rolls, loops, or whatever. Im at around 2000 in flight until I start bangin the sticks. SO, my question is this, I use a Futaba 7ch radio and I really dont have any channels to give up. I was reading the GV-1 governer PDF manual online studying it and saw that its possible to use the governer without using a channel on the reciever by just running the throttle servo lead to the gov and then to the reciever therefore not using an extra channel, am I understanding that correctly? Also my fan already seems to have two magnets installed so some of the work is done already. What Im worried about is this gov being a real big pain in the a-- to setup. How bad is it becuase the manual really drags everything out and makes things seem pretty difficult. Any help or tips on installing a gov would help. I dont have one yet but I am looking. Thanks guys

Hollo.

1. First you must set up that sensor pick up only one positive signal and other magnet must be nagative signal (surve only as counter weigt that fan stys balanced
2. Now you set up the high trotle, idle and stop(cut off) on the radio.
Make at normal flight condiction linear trotle from 0% to 100% and idle up V curve 100% to 50% to 100%
3. Set up the limit seting for the servo on the GV-1, that tell to governor where are his operating limits and direction of highest, idle and stop.
4. Set gear ratio in the GV-1
5. If you use only trotle chanel on GV-1 you must run idle up curves under on the radio that you dont get under 15% on slow side (that tuns the GV-1 to OFF position).
Than you activate >>StSw<<(stick swich) from INH to ON position, when the stick is under 15% on slow side it is OFF staus when is sick over 15% status is ON (governor contole RPM).
Control of RPM is taken from pilot when the actual RPM are over 1000 on the rotor head.
Read page 12 in the manual.
6. Set your wnted RPM
You are set to fly

Yes. Pretty much every R/C device simply passes power through, and the GV-1 is no exception. In order for it to be able to run a mixture servo, it has to provide power to that port, just like the throttle servo port . . . And since throttle servo loads are low, the draw down the throttle/aux channel leads shouldn't be much, so should not effect the readings on your voltwatch.

Throw the voltwatch in the trash and get a loaded volt meter but yes, you can plug it in to any port or Y it to the gyro gain.

If you haven't bought one can I suggest a multigov instead, its easier, cheaper, faster, and smaller.

I also use a voltwatch and have it plugged into the GV-1

The GV-1 isn't hard to set-up
Here's a finless video if you need help

and
http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath...ame=step14a.wmv

the GV-1 IMO is the best but it is fairly expensive
However you can find them on E-bay for around 125$
